Thoughts on Dinan Intake

I was wondering if anyone had the Dinan intake and what are your general thoughts on it? I know the website says gains of 8hp and 5tq at 8300 RPM but no one drives around at that RPM anyways. Do you feel gains on the low to mid end also or do you have to be going 60+ to feel the gains? Is it worth the money as opposed to a regular performance filter?

the general consensus here seems to be to go with a high perf filter...they are generally about a 100 bucks and net you about 5hp. Some have tried the Dinan intake and are happy with it...for the "bling" if nothing else. Personally, I just went with the Macht Schnell filter and called it a day. Everyone says the stock intake system is pretty darn good...hard to make it much better.

i agree with this. i think you'll still gain some power from the dinan intake but the cost per hp gained is pretty high so if you can afford it, go ahead. otherwise just stick to a performance filter.

+1.
I own Dinan intake. And before Dinan, I had MS filter.
MS filter really added nice tone over engine sound.
I got 20% off + 200 dollars Dinan gift certificate + dealership had one instock. That's why I switched to bling Dinan.

But w/o discounts etc., it's pretty harsh $$ to have fancy noise under the hood.

If you have $$ go for it but if you want good gain/noise in reasonable budget, get a filter and call it a day.

Agreed. Curious - since you had the MS filter before the Dinan intake/filter...did you notice any difference in tone? Or do they sound about the same?

Sounds really the same in my ears.
I was expecting more noise from the larger C/F intake pipe but it's really nothing different. But Dinan intake looks damn good for sure along with my Dinan parts.

yup same here i like mine and happy with it but i got a great deal on it otherwise i would of just went with a filter

for power you feel it the most from 5k up so i can't say for sure if you feel it down low bc i have there midpipe and that you really feel so it overshadows my other mods alot bc the dinan midpipe made the most power gains out of anything i did on the car

not sure if it is on the 20% off list but if you have the extra coin and want a nice look under there and a good design then go for it. it is def built well and you can see they took there time and did the R&D on it bc it fits perfect and there is no fitment issues like the Technocraft one or no tape to put on etc. it is like a OEM fit but with more power

if you are just looking for the best bang for the buck then just get a high flow filter and call it a day and save your money for a midpipe bc thats what really unleashes this car

I have one in my car and you do feel a difference, although not huge. I just went for it because it was the nicest CF charge pipe on the market. The filter is also a big louder than the BMC which I had before IMO.

I don't have a Dinan intake however, I do have a GruppeM cf intake & had an aFe dry filter prior. While the aFe was louder than stock, it wasn't much louder & couldn't tell a performance difference. However, w/the GruppeM not only was it noticeably louder at WOT, I can honestly say I felt a difference in performance starting around 3.5k - 4k all the way to redline.

Is the drop-in-filter louder than the stock one?

Yes, has a nice raspy sound to it at WOT.

I just like the Dinan mods. I just feel better about the warranty issue. I don't think anyone would argue about the quality. Price is another issue. Like the others said, if you can afford it...
