"Drag strip" How are you guys launching? DCT

How are you guys launching DCT? I tried LC and it launches way to high "5500" rpms i tried lowering it with the arm bar and it drops like 400 rpms then shuts LC off, getting fustrated.

Good post man, I'm curious as well. I've tried all different techniques and I spin non stop. (my car is supercharged so I know that doesn't help lol) but even from a roll I've seen videos from forum members where it looks like they get traction. Have you just tried S5 and compared those results to using S6?

Sub'd! I can't get traction off the line for the life of me! I either spin all over the place or have too gentle of a start and get a horrible 60'

Imo, you can't use LC without drag radials or slicks. Or you at least need to have wide sticky street tires and a full tank of gas.

DR's would be a great benefit for any E9x owner at the strip. I for one, will be ordering a set of DR's in a few weeks.....

I am a 6MT, but I understand the frustration of launching................

I don't see how a line lock will help the rear hook up (other than maybe help heat the tires for burn out) but as otheres have said, sticky tires are a must, maybe an 18" drag radial.

I feel like drag radials and LC are just acting for a subframe teabag lol.

The best launch I found at the track was; small burnout, after that, put the car in MDM, soft EDC, S5 mode and stage. When the second amber is lit, mash the throttle and shift at about 8200 so you don't hit the limiter. I ran 12.35-12.5 all day long, very consistant. My car does have AA full exhaust and tune.

How do you get S6 without DSC fully off?

With DR's you must have a linelock to heat them up properly.

MDM is not the best method for the track. It still applies brakes when your tires slip resulting in power loss. For the best results....EDC soft and DSC off. Best times are obtained using DR's, heat them properly in the water box and use launch control at 5500. Using LC with street tires is a waste of time and adds to more transmission stress since you will get a burnout and tire hop.

Seriously, with DCT there is little need to use any manual mode (or LC) if launching from the dig. Try D5 - DSC off, left foot on the brake, slightly raise the RPMs and easily go right to the floor on the last yellow.

hahah.....if you want to be competitive, that method wont cut it. Also, you cannot apply the brake while giving it throttle like in a standard torque converter. It activates the clutch. I have over 100 runs with this tranny. Two identical cars with your method vs mine....i'll win every time.

1sickm.. are you in automatic or manual shift when you go down the strip? Someone on another forum said in automatic (5) it will shift perfectly at the redline for every shift. If so, what would be the advantage of shifting manually?

When you use LC, it automatically shifts the first 4 gears for you
