I am totally in shock. I knew him from my active racing times in Europe. He was a great guy. Always BMW. What a loss.

Yes, it was his new Judd car. He supposedly lost the car about 1 km from the finish line and hit a wall with over 200 km/h.
There is a video on youtube with a picture of the car after the accident. See also http://134judd.com/

Sad. RIP
Even Sadder is that I never knew if this man or this car until I read this story. what a great sound that car made. I wish the more obscure racing that goes on in Europe was broadcast here in the US. |

But thats what I use the Inernet for. And I travel to races once a year if I can. Just got back from the German Touring Car Championship at the Norisring. Wonderful experience. But not on TV (or on Speed like 6 months later...). I also with they would show WTCC, but I cannot gat that at all in the US.

This is truly tragic. He was a great driver and had some great runs. Legend in hill climb for sure. That car was caged up pretty well, I guess the impact was too direct and abrupt. Here was his car before:

Georg and his Judd V8 E36 M3 have been heroes of mine for years. The day he died was truly a sad day.
