Front Pad Clatter

For those of you suffering with front brake clatter, I have a fix.

I bought Performance Friction Z-rated pads to work with my PF-01 track pads and they clattered so bad it was embarrassing. The piston side pads are missing the anti-rattle clip that comes on stock pads.

I purchases some titanium brake pad shims from Hard Brakes and coated them both sides with CRC anti-squeal spray. Then I sprayed the back of the pads. This stuff is tacky and once you put the pads and shims together, it dampens out the vibrations that allow the rattle. Two weeks of silence so far.

Your mileage may vary...

Thanks a lot for posting this. I've had my PFC01s on for over a week now (was at the track last weekend and haven't had time to swap them yet) and the noise they make is unreal. Pretty funny rolling by a sidewalk cafe with the clatter and squeal... So the shims just sit "loose" between the back backing plate and caliper? I'd like to give this a try when my stock pads wear out.

I don't believe the shims sit "loose" between the pads and piston. The spray is very tacky, and I believe the addition of the "glue" between the pad and shim, then the shim and piston, helps to dampen out the clatter of the pad moving freely about the caliper.

I'm interested in this as well, which size did you end up ordering? Can you provide a quick link?

I'm not going to provide a link because anyone who can't find Hard Brakes online scares me.

I went with the 0.5 mm plates.
