Wtb E92 My07/08 M3
Hi All,
I'm on the hunt for a 2007/08 (or newer) M3, ideally an E90, but they are still a tad outside of my budget, so an E92 will suffice. Preference is 6MT in AW, but open to pretty much anything if its around the $80k mark Let me know if you, or someone you know is selling! Cheers Chris

80 is a bit hopeful, 90-odd is the realistic price.

I missed out on an E92 M3 6MT yesterday by a matter of hours, car sold for <$78k (not sure how much under), 70k on the clock, full BMW service history, AW, Carbon roof etc
There is a 2007 E92 on Carsales with 27k on the clock for $88k, and they have already said that $80 will secure the car, so I dont think I am being unreasonable (no more so than my $113k 335i being worth just $50k now !)

suff not wanting to hijack your thread but i was just looking on carsales and was looking at the aw one you mention (I think).
After seeing your thread got me to thinking about a track car and now that these are cheap, i was thinking of buying a manual for the track but as we all know the only problem with an m3 is the lack of grunt compared to a tuned n54. So i was wondering if anyone here had whacked a super charger on and taken the car to the track? |

It is a shame to have people that troll around here about M3, now want one because prices are within their reach
Why does M3 has to have a supercharger before be taken to a track

I thought you said that we should have bought 335 because they are better now you are looking at 2007 m3 for track why not 335 for the same job Because till now you couldn't afford an M3

The price you want to pay is about a trade in rate, so you might get lucky and find a seller who is going to trade. It always suprises me to see some high value cars just get traded rather than at least trying to sell privately for a week at least. But I guess so many people can't be arsed with the crap that goes along with private sales, so just take the undervalued trade.

Seriously, off your high horse for a moment.. I bought a 335i in 2008 as at the time, bang for buck (short of Aussie V8's) nothing came close, the fact that I could buy a 335i, and with relatively light modifications have something that will beat an M3 (stock) in a straight line for a good $50k less made good sense. Now that I can have an M3 for $80k, strap a supercharger to it for under $15k and have an extremely competent package for under the cost of a 1yr old 335i, I'd be silly not to. Unlike you, I don't see the need or desire in spending top dollar on cars (especially considering a) I do under 10k a year cumulative across all my cars) and b) the M3 will likely be a weekend/track car only) P.S. Ausfredy let me guess, your dick is 4feet long too?

I'm thinking he is a fanboy and can't see past the badge.
Seriously folks the m3 is a really good car, but for the track an n54 with a couple grand on suspension mods is quicker. So unless you get a super charger your gonna lose at the track |

We spoke about this at today's drive, and I'll agree with Ausfredy, 600-odd hp is just going to be a waste of time and money. If you're planning to race, then race it as is, and take it from there. You're going to get a lot more out of it with suspension and other aids, rather than just going all out power.
An M3 is going to be a lot more fun IMO than a 135 or 1M. I have my E36 with an S50B30 with MoTeC on it, and its quick enough around a track, and also, you'll get more fun by trying to better your times on a car like the M3, stock, than throwing more power at it. Going faster isn't always necessarily better. Think about the rest of the car, putting more power means, if you're tracking it, going to better brakes, and then does that mean you want to put race seats in it, and if you do that, then a half cage? That 15k turns out to be 50k before you know it. And unless you're going to be racing for money, there's no point in being the fastest at club track days. There is always someone quicker and better than you, thats a given.

c'mon man that's not accurate! I owned a meth injected 335 prior and it's a totally different car. Coming on here saying a tuned n54 is better yet you want an M3 doesn't make sense.
At a dig the tuned n54 is quicker off the mark but after 120kph a stock m3 seems to reel it back. Some n54 drivers are a PITA at the track; as they won't let you pass on the straights, then you ride their hammer around twisties. M3 I've found will stick to corners and put the power down superior to a 335, which is why a lot of the guys prob use m3 suspension components. Like you said though, dollar for dollar spent on mods for both cars so it's apple to apple comparison and the s/c m3 is no contest. Let us know how your search goes. On the other hand, MOST M3 Drivers have a clue what their car can do (E93 owners I have to question somewhat), although that doesn't necessarily translate into driver ability... It should say in large, plain text on the cover of an M3 User Manual : This Car is Great, it does not make YOU Great.
