Kevin is usually super good at responding via all forms - Phone, email, text, etc. He may be super busy and if that's the case, he'd normally be up front about his schedule (and lack of time to get you in) and would then refer you to another shop. He truly is a great guy and his attentive response/customer service was the sole reason i chose him in the first place and have never looked back.

Got quoted 4.4k from bmw Seattle for dct leak repair. The car is 51k miles and 3.8 years old. Made an appointment with Kevin on Monday morning and keeping my fingers crossed for a more sensible quote.

Yeah, that. I've got to get to the track if for no other reason than to watch and check it out. Is there pretty good access for a spectator? Anything to see if I'm not driving?

Not a whole lot to see at pacific, front straight and turn 8 and 9.The ridge has a viewing area in center of track now so can see decent amount, haven't been up there but should show more. Also not bad being in pits and visiting with guys.

Yes. Might be more fun to go on a race day than hpde though. Either way people are friendly and want to talk about their cars. Someone may ask you what your doing but just say came to check it out and should be fine.

There's usually not too many girls on car forums, which is why I don't post much.

Btw, I just went to Kevin's shop today for a quote and here is his response on some of the unresponsiveness complaints:

"My business phone is also my personal until we move into the new shop. I had a X5 customer who set up a Yelp profile for KD Motorsports and wrote a review. Within a day, I started receiving telemarketing calls. I get five or more a day, mostly from out of state. Lately I've been getting (206) and (425) as well. I've gotten to the point, if I've missed the call and there is no message, I'm assuming it's telemarketers trying to sell me Google add space! This has been going on for at least six months.

It sounds like my website has an email that people can send stuff to. My web developer never gave me that info(or I got it initially and it slipped past me), so it looks like I've been missing out on working with potential customers! Time to address it and also develop the correct content, which needs to be on the website.

Over the last year we have been so busy, there hasn't been much time for some of the important business development details. I am hiring front office help to alleviate some of those problems as we expand. The backbone of what we do is the quality, honest work that Tom and I produce. The other details will continue to sort themselves out as we expand as a company."

I finally connected with KD. I've got an appointment on Monday for oil/filter, transmission oil change, diff oil change, brake and steering fluid changes, air filter, and whatever else he thinks the car needs.

He sounds like a nice guy. looking forward to some quality work.

So far so good. Thanks for the recco.

I got an appointment with Kevin tomorrow. He sounds like a cool guy! I just got a 2013 E92 with 22K miles on it and am looking for some inspections/engine/transmission oil change, air filter if needed.

PM me if you would like me to mention you as referrals!
I just picked up my car from KD last night, the first time I've used his shop.

Like others have said--KD is a very, very nice guy. I called him after several other members recommended him. I get the impression he's a good mechanic, and I have no reason to doubt it in the few miles I've gone on his work. So far, the car seems great in the few miles I've driven. If there are leaks or other issues, I get the sense KD would make it right. Had oil/filter change, transmission oil change, diff oil change, brake fluid change, general inspection, all filters checked, etc. He also fixed a rocker panel that I banged up on an invisible parking block (it happens to the best of us) and the fix looks just great.

The prices were definitely fair and reasonable, and came in under budget.

I will definitely use KD again. My only gripe is that it's a PITA for me to get my car to and from his shop.

Labor on this is pretty intensive. I just got my clutch cover replaced under warranty. and the parts were cheap, but the labor was somewhere in the neighborhood of $2500. I believe BMW lists this one at 13 hours or so.
