Replica parts? Yes or No? What are your thoughts?

Just wondering if anyone has used replica parts in here for their Ms or their older cars? Badges? Vorsteiners? AC Schnitzer? Hamann? etc? What are your thoughts on these? Would you feel obliged to the manufacturers, suppliers?

You bought an M3 and you are thinking of replica parts?
Get real parts, like Vorsteiner or Schnitzer like you said! No replica's....

I just cant bring myself to spend $1600 or so on a front lip. Seems like a lot for what I consider to be a sacrificial piece.

dude, original parts are sooo fucking over priced! their parts cost more than BMW parts

modding by itself isnt the "classiest" thing to do, it's sorta ghetto in a sense

all those original parts dont have 100% fitment, in fact even BMW fenders, bumpers, and other parts dont have 100% fitment. so why pay more for something that's ghetto and doesnt fit well??

Just say no! Especially total rip offs like Chinese made "Schnitzer" replicas, complete with badge. Ethically wrong. Also, I would lose some of the high esteem I have for my car if I start putting cheap parts on it.

If its a front lip, I would get replica. Just because we drive M3's doesn't mean we have to spend $1350 on a carbon fiber front lip. Besides, a front lip is really prone to damage. I wouldn't feel so bad if my $350 replica got messed up, but if it were my genuine $1350 Vorsteiner front lip, I'd be crying.

Now, it's anything to do with performance then do not ever go replica.

man
if you can live with rep parts get it
I know I'm getting rep parts
some people say it doesn't last as long
hell.......I don't care
by the time it's broken I would want a new lip or w/e or a new car
rep parts, original....who cares
as long as it looks nice and performs the same or better

either you pay for the real shit, or don't put it on. I've seen counterfeits wheels, where the clear coat finish peeled off; leaving the owner embarrassed.

I prefer putting authentic parts in general.

But when companies like vorsteiner decide to triple the price of aero parts between the 335 and the m3 with no appreciable difference in the quality or fitment of the item, it makes the replica seem far more attractive.

Unless there is some hidden factor that makes the m3 3x the price to develop for, then there is no reason for this kind of brand loyalty for a company that deliberately gouges m3 owners.

pshh! Im still waiting for the replica M3 to come out...

If you cant afford a $1000 part then you most likely cant afford a $75,000.00 car. Rep parts suck they never fit and look like shit after two months, then again I have had "name brand" stuff fall apart on me too. One must be very careful with the brands they chose for there car.

Yeah OK whatever. I just prefer not wasting money, and I think a $1400 front lip is wasting money. I can afford any parts that you can buy for an m3, but I think $1400 for a FL is crazy. Why does a lip for a M3 have to cost 3x as much as one for a 335?

all the replica lips i have seen for the m3 look just as good if not better than the vorsteiner and hamann ones. Vorsteiners fitment sucks i have one on my m6 and the fitment is so off.

"you can afford any part I can"? Why the need to be rude? Im sorry if my experience with rep pars bothers you I have found the knock off quality to be very low. Im not VRS so I cant tell you why its 3 times as much.
