I just finished installing a dinan front sway bar. The issue, or maybe not, is that once I turn the wheel, either left or right, that side of the car lifts. Is this normal? According to my friend it is. Any advice?

A slight lift is normal. It did that before but you didn't notice.

You should be ok for a bit but I'd replace them asap. The dinan ones are much stronger and with a firmer sway bar you'll need the stronger links. Just send it back to dinan |

it is when you install the bar with tension already on it when the car is at rest. i don't think i've ever heard of a weekend guy doing it on purpose... it usually results in a cracked bar. its a pro-racer kinda thing that i'm not familiar with.

The 3 holes are for different swaybar stiffness settings. The (edited, thanks @m43s7ro) stiffest setting is closest to the center of the bar, and the softest setting is the furthest from the center of the bar.
You do NOT want a preloaded swaybar on a street car. Swaybar preloading requires adjustable endlinks, and is really only useful for NASCAR type circle track racing, where you'll only be turning in one direction. Last edited by SpartaEvolution; 09-21-2017 at 11:15 AM.. Reason: I done goofed |

they are for adjusting stiffness. adding stiffness is different than preload. they are not the same. you can add stiffness without adding preload.

Correction, furthest holes from bar are softest setting, closer to bar is stiffer as it creates less leverage and thus is harder to twist the bar.
