You do know that the oil must be at operating temp before it can be properly drained, I hope. 6-7 miles would be a bare minimum, since it takes oil a lot longer to get to operating temp than it does coolant. I'd prefer to see more miles than that before my oil change. The number of miles a car is driven before or after a service procedure is entirely dependent upon what is being done and/or what it takes to diagnose a complaint. The particular service bulletin in question here is for a problem that is sometimes difficult to confirm/duplicate both the problem and a successful repair.

Ok, I got the car back with 50 miles on it. The work order has it in writing (Foreman drove the car 50 miles per BMW recommendations)...The car was driven hard (my stuff in the trunk were all over the place) and to complete the picture they didn't wash it , and it had half tank of gas ! It is not a big deal... I guess!

Never seen more than a couple miles on mine, even after the 1200 mile service. I would request to ride-along if a 35 mile test drive was needed.
