Wide Super Sports are on......

......and the verdict is in. There has been some interest in the attached thread about Pilot Super Sports and fitment. Well I have them on and I'm loving every mile so far. The first thing I've noticed is the added grip is incredible. I tried a couple of hard launches and the car seems glued to the pavement. With the 265's in the rear they would always break loose through 3rd gear. The 295 has yet to break loose and the test has been with MDM engage. This definitely gives you the kick in the ass feeling many of us crave when it's time to go. The set up is as follows:

265-30-19 front ZCP wheel......19x9 +31
295-30-19 rear ZCP wheel......19x10 +25

Factory ZCP suspension with no camber adjustments made and no spacers.

Original thread-------> http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=665300

Take a good look at the liner pictures. I think a 275-30-19 up front would rub slightly. The 265 is the perfect fit in the PSS. Keep in mind I only weight about a 175lbs. so I can't speak for any additional weight factors. I hope this answer a few question on this particular tire and size................Phil

Looks good

Are you able to pull out of your driveway without the front lip rubbing? I know that was a concern of yours.

So far so good.....I'll have to test it with the CEO in the car. If I hear that awful noise she'll be getting picked up curbside after that .............Phil

So besides all the added weight and DSC balance issues..whats the real benefit to this extreme plus sizing?.. i just dont see the advantages..looks great..but honestly unless you are cranking out another 100HP..OEM sizes are fine.

When daily driving around town the added weight is a non factor in rush hour traffic. And as for DSC issues I haven't noticed one yet. The added grip has already proven itself in just a short launch. I guess the same could be said for all the S/C flying off the shelf. Where can you really use the added power? At the end of the day what gearhead doesn't like a wide stance. So I guess your point about looks great is very valid. When it's time for speed and functionality, I'll put my track wheels on and take care of business at the proper place.....the track.........Phil

Looks good, 265/30 is a little on the short side, curious to hear how you like it over the long run. Do you track?

I see some of your points..but I get the same stance with spacers..and dont have to spend on bigger more expensive tires..plus that 265/30 sidewall is anemic compared to a 245/35..I need all the protection I get in NYC..

Looks great nonetheless!

Car looks awesome with the Akrym lip! Any pics of how the car will look from the front while capturing how flush the wheels will look?

It's hard to capture a good photo from the front that accents the lip and the wheels. I'll play around with it and see what I can do..............Phil

Wow that looks outstanding! I think I know what my next tire order is going to be Thanks for stepping up to the plate and being the first E92 to put 295 PSSs in the rear (that I know of)!

Curious to hear if you observe any DSC issues with that configuration as 275/295 would be closer to the stock stagger than the 265...

You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but alot of us disagree. I find the car looking for traction all the time out of the rear of this car. You up the rear you are going to want to balance the car by upping the front as well.

You keep mentioning DSC issues, I have been running my setup for almost 2 years the DSC issues as confirmed by Ben at Tirerack really are a non issue as it turns out the DSC isn't that sensitive to tire diameter as much as people think.

Looks great!! I don't think a 275 would rub, for one its been done before with no rubbing and two, its about diameter not no much width. A 255/35/19 is 26.1" tall and it is just a hair away from rubbing. If I do this it would be a 275 up front.

Let us know how you like the feel of the car after a few hundred miles, new tires never feel so good...

Agree 100%! I'm running PSS 255/40-18 and 285/35-18 and I've had zero DSC issues. Also, rear grip has been greatly improved with the 285 rear tire.

I did a small amount of spirited driving yesterday. And on my route there is a right hand turn that is always slick. So yesterday I hit the M button prior to making the turn so I could step the rear out some and it came around as it normally would. No lights and no power interruptions. I think all this DSC talk is about nothing............Phil

I'll keep everyone posted as the tires break in

I put on my 295/30 and 245/35 PSS about a month ago on my E93 and I will say these tires are awesome! No issues, significantly better grip, much better launches. Glad to see another person is enjoying them

Why did you stay with a 245 up front?........Phil

looks fantastic. on my next set of tires, I'm thinking of taking the 255/35s up to 275/30s. the 255's aren't as wide, but they're a bit tall so they rub occasionally on full lock. nothing bad though.
