leaving the car in storage for 2 months, what should I do?

as stated in title, I am leaving the country for roughly 2 months and now wondering what I should do with my car in the garage.

option 1: unplug the battery connectors - local auto shop guys told me to do so

option 2: use a battery maintainer - I have one that I bought when it was on sale a while ago. Never had any experience using this product. Are we able to just lift the cover in the trunk and connect the battery maintainer directly to the battery?

Anybody here having the experiences?

Inflate tires to 50psi ( or max ratting), this will prevent flat spots. Just dont forget to deflate them when you get home.
Place a sticky note on the windshield that says; "Check Tire Pressure"

Disconnect the battery, but you dont need battery maintainer. But, if you do have one, then its ok to use it.

Place rat and mice poison under or near the car. Small critters like to find places in cars to make babies in or build homes.

I garaged my summer car all winter for the last 4 years. I had a lexus SC430 coupe and I would disconnect the battery. I found out the hard way that it's not good for the battery plus you have to reprogram some things when you fire it back up.

When I got my M3 the guys at the dealer told me the best thing to do is to hook up a drip charger and let it sit. I bought a BMW charger from the parts department ( $70.00 ) worked great. Four months later I disconnected the clips, closed the hood and fired her up.....easy as pie. Besides the Battery is in the trunk...kind of a pain in the ass to get at. I can't believe I went through the hassle of disconnecting the battery for the previous 3 years.

Over the years I have used a trickle charger (such as the Battery Tender, similiar to the BMW equivalent) on a few Corvettes and on my last two M3s and never had any issues.
