[Retrofit] Can I use the old CCC iDrive controller with a CIC headunit?

Hi there! I have a retrofitting question.

I have a 2008 E92 M3 and I have just purchased a used CIC headunit and LCD screen for an iDrive retrofit.

Since my main motivation for the retrofit is to eventually install a camera system and I don't mind the old "CCC style" iDrive controller, would it be possible to skip that part of the retrofit? Any possible compatibility issues operating the CIC headunit with the older iDrive controller?
