m3
Im confused as to why people seem to think their M3 is worth wayyyy more than it is. For instance KBB lists a 2011 m3 with every option at just under 55k. But guys on the forum list it at like 65-70k. I understand they put exhaust and wheels and other cosmetic crap. But doesn't everyone know that you don't get back the money you put into the car. It just makes it more appealing over the other one. I get putting 10k into a car and asking a bit over kbb. But sometimes its a little outrageous. Its not this rare special car. I mean they produced more M3's than the BOSS mustang. Its just crazy sometimes. If your car isn't crazy modded you shouldn't be asking much if at all over KBB. why would you buy a house worth 100k for 200k.
Just some thoughts. |

Based on all the "how much should I offer" or "is this a good deal" posts on this site it seems like a lot of people are either scared or have no clue how to negotiate. |

what have you offered so far? read my prior post, if you haven't offered, then you really dont' know what the true price of a car could/would be.

yeah, I think it's just a lot of people who are not 100% committed on searching and buying a car right now. So you have a lot of tire kickers out there turned off by asking prices. I've also seen a lot of people turned off by not willing to drive more than 1 hour outside of their metro area to pick one up. Hence why this thread was created, to tell people what others have paid. we should really keep this thread to this theme, not a "hey, how much should I offer for this car?" B/c the answer is: "If you havne't offered, then go offer first, then come back to us to discuss, we'll help you narrow down the value of the actual car, we're not going to do the work for you". unless you want me to do it for you, but I'll have to take a fee for my time and expertise. if you want a deal, do your own work people, else you can always feel chartiable and pay up a few thousand. |

The problem here is the people think the M3 is some special rare car. We have KBB and NADA for a reason. Look it up and if the car is in excellent condition the offer that price or just under.
And for people selling a car those KBB and NADA values are where you should start. Why the hell would some one buy a car for way more than its worth. And please remember you DONT get the cost of modification back when you sell it. |

2011.5 sedan. Silverstone II, 6MT, no sunroof (yeah!), most all other options except EDC. 16k miles. BMW CPO warranty. Car is in like new condition. Original owner never drove it in bad weather -- amazing condition, super clean underneath and inside -- essentially new. Paid $54.4k from BMW Mt Kisco, original ask was $57,500 but they wouldn't budge under 54.4k.
It took *months* of hunting for a sedan with 6MT and the options I want but without a sunroof...very rare to find. I need the headroom for when wearing a helmet, plus I never use sunroofs, plus it's nice not to have that extra 40-50lbs of weight sitting up there on top of the car.

I look on CL often for used e9x M3's in our area just to see what prices are like, and there are very few. High demand and low availability = higher prices

pissed seeing this thread. I shouldve did more research but most m3's in a 500mi radius on cars.com and autotrader were asking 55k-65k with high mileage and were 08-09 not really equipped.
I payed 38k for my 10' 335i with a couple of options but if I couldve picked up a m3 at the price I wouldve definitely have chosen that. kicking myself in the a** now.

FWIW, in case anyone is interested, there is a nice looking Interlagos Blue (ignore their LeMans Blue statement) 2011 E90 M3 with 10k miles at BMW Midtown in Houston. This is the car I was pondering when I bought mine a few weeks ago.
They have been coming down on price a lot and are now down to 51.9k I think. One could probably get them to CPO it and be out the door for 54k or less. It's in service date was in the Fall of 2011 if I recall correctly (although the Carfax shows it was bought in OK but not imported until this past Fall, so perhaps it was a military purchase or something, not sure, but I was going to investigate it further if my deal fell through). It is a no sunroof E90 with 6MT but with most all other options, so it was exactly what I was looking for, and non-sunroof late model E90s are very hard to come by. If I had gotten it, the color scheme almost perfectly matches my LeMans Blue M5 but the insert color in the seats has a bit of blue in the silver I suppose...anyway, that part intrigued me.

And hell it never hurts to ask so just give them a low ball number. The worst that can happen is they say no and that's the end of it
