Individual - Ultra-light - Forged

The new high end product line combines technology and a unique design to a perfect and individual match.
The special technological manufacturing process reduces weight so that the FI in 19" x 8.75" weighs 7.4 kg (16.31lbs.) only! As a result the performance is increased significantly as well as driving comfort.
The FI emphasizes the unique character of the car.

Technology
Weight reduced by back milling between the spokes.
Flow formed inner rim for a maximum of stability at a minimum of weight.
Possibilities for individualization by different finishes and options like a stainless steel rim protector lip

Finishes:
Brilliant silver, ceramic polished or black/diamond cut.

Very strange...

But I was told several times by my source, that the project managers wanted to build something a little different.

I want everyone here to understand what BBS is doing with this new Forged Individual line...

This forged wheel was designed and marketed to showcase all the technological advancements that BBS has come up with over the past 30 years.

1) Ultra high-tonnage aluminum forgings with a high strength-to-weight ratio

2) Extensive JWL, VIA, & TUV testing procedures (that far exceed the minimum levels needed to pass)

3) Innovative manufacturing technologies like CNC back milling (patented)

4) Very durable 3-stage lacquer-based powdercoatings

The Forged Individual line will be sold through a separate sales channel. It will NOT be sold in the same manner as the CH or LM wheel. (through the standard authorized dealer network for example)

These wheels will be an exclusive, high-end line (with a hefty price tag of course!), that are build in small production runs for very limited applications.(BMW, Ferrari, and Porsche only)

This new program is not designed to mass-market a new forged wheel design. My impression, is that these wheels will be available by special order only.

Again, the goal here is to build the equivalent of an aftermarket "tuner" wheel for select cars.

I don't get why BBS limits their US sales and keeps the distribution to Europe and Japan only. Do they hate money?

You clearly know a bit about wheel manufaturing and manufacturing in general but you are also spouting lots of untrue statements.

That is a huge exaggeration. With proper tooling you can obtain accuracy much greater than a wheel requires or is speced at by repositioning the wheel and sticking with a 3 axis machine.

Absolutely not true. Either the part is manufactured to the print or it is not. This really has nothing to do with the style of machine used to make it. Now once you accept this fact, the strength of the wheel (or any other load bearing part) is uniquely determined, no ifs/ands or buts.

There are many type of 4, 5, 6+ axis machines. Not all are large and not all are specialized for trimming and routing. Many just to general milling.

The high cost of a 5-axis machine also makes it prohibitive for users on a smaller scale. (it can't pay for itself in a reasonable timeframe)
Again not true. There are plently of smaller, reasonably affordable 5 axis machines. Not all 5 axis machines are anything like many used in airframe manufacturing. Lots of fairly small shops have 5 axis machines these days.

Thank you for your post. I have had several issues with Cleveland for exactly the same reasons and I`m glad someone else has pointed this out as well. He tends to post a lot of misinformation and has been known for exaggerating simple facts and been a bit misleading all in the name of "educating" people. Please make sure you do your own research before you believe anything he says.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

8.75 is perfect for the front. 245 or 255 no problem! Now does BBS make a 10-10.5 in the rear to accommodate 285-305 tires?
