Got my heads re-done (WCCH) with Vengeance Racing (3rd LSX vehicle they've worked on for me) so that I'd have no valve-dropping worries at the track. Only other 'power' mod is K&N intake.

She drives like stock. No cam.
Next up, replacing the fog lights for a bigger brake duct air inlet, tow hooks front/rear, tires and carbotechs.

Got torque?

Vengeance has a $3K and $4K package, the latter which includes dual springs/retainers and dyno tune. Keeping the car cam free for the moment, and no long-tubes since it's my DD and 6-8 HPDE weekends a year. Going for reliability...

Who are you saying is but hurt?

The guy who made the massively condescending and ridiculously exaggerated statement that "anyone who wants a slow car with an OK interior buys an M3" *on the M3 forum*, or the guy who took exception to it?

90% of people are "but hurt" on car forums because 100% of their ego is wrapped up in their car and they take everything personally. Given that, I think you have to defer to the home field advantage.

If you go the >M3 Forum< and basically say that only an idiot would own one, I think it's reasonable that people can tell u to go F yourself without being called "but hurt". Especially if its in a passive aggressive way (always the favored approach of trolls) like saying "well if you want to overpay for a slow POS then the car is for you!" Thats *begging* to be called out. Thats just me though, maybe Im crazy.

Z06 is a great car. M3 is a great car. They are *enormously different in every way* and have very different missions. Neither is a "POS", neither is slow. That's an actual sane statement, for reference.

I have been reading this thread for a whole now and every time I see a z06 I wish I had one. Would I drive it everday..probably not. It's an amazing car and incredibly fast and will always get looks in the American eye. The M3 not so much unless you are an enthusiast or have a love for European performance.

I would love to own a z06 in my lifetime and I have a good family friend that owns several z06s but drives an s5 as a daily.

Great car and wow for the mod buck it sure does go a long way.

Do you really think you'd have to push the Z06 to the limit to pass the M3? Are you saying that any "OK driver" could get in an M3 and feel comfortable pushing it to the limit?

I think it depends on the definition of ok driver. In brand new drivers to the track they will have more trouble with a z06 or more likely to get in trouble. After a very short time the begining z06 driver will surpass the m3. Even up to a relatively high level the z06 still will be more of a handful but also quicker.

By the time you get pass the M3 in your C6/Z06, you heart rate will be the same as if you were running beside the car. I'm not saying you'll have to push the car to it's limit to pass, but you can be sure that 8 out of 10 Corvette drivers won't get past at all.

Did you test drove both? One after the other?

As a reference: 6 Second difference between a Z51 C6 and a E92 on the Nürburgring.... 6 second!

Not trying to bench race but that's a plain old C6 you are referencing. To keep the conversation apples to apples, as much as comparing a Z06 and a M3 can be...

The Z is shown at:

The comparison is quite simple. If you want a car that works both on the road and on the track, the M3 is the better car. If you want a car that only works on the track, the z06 is much better.

Z06 = purpose built pure sports car

M3 = "sporty" luxury car

Forget about what you "think" you know about driving limits or Ring times. A purpose built sports car like a Corvette Z06 will ALWAYS be a better performer than a jack-of-all-trades car like the M3. Simply because it has been over-engineered for all out performance. Just like the M3 is a more rounded car than the Z06. It was engineered with comfort and practicality in mind. This is an apples to oranges comparison, and a funny one at that. Enjoy your M3 for what it is... a fast grocery getter. Ha!

Call me nuts but I'm considering trading in my new 2013 e92 M3 (only 4000 kms) for a used C6 Z06 with the performance package.

It's basically a ZR1 with a Z06 engine which for me is ideal. I prefer NA. And because that package has magnetic ride its also way more comfortable than the regular Z06.

I would not buy a Z06 without that package.

Here's a write up on it

Magnetic ride is fine if you are typically on the street with a bit of tracking. But, if you tend to track a lot, you will end up replacing the mag ride with coilovers. If you intend to replace the mag ride, you are better off going with a base Z06.

By, the way a non magnetic ride with 18/19 inch wheels rides pretty soft. It isn't stiff at all and is more compliant than a M5 in comfort mode.

You'll love it if your looking for a purpose built speed machine! And I would option for the base model as well and add coilovers. As for replacing the carbon ceramic brakes from the z07 package.....

I just got back from chuckwalla this weekend with my new brake setup, raybestos st43 all around and front 2 piece performance friction rotors and I have nothing but praise for that setup. I'm going to need some Hoosiers to get the most out of those brakes. Clocked a consistent 2.05. I'm going to change my alignment though, bc I was under steering all day. Well that and I'm not that fast of a driver...

Thanks everyone.

I had just heard that it was a really bad and rough ride without the magnetic ride.

My daily is my S4 so its more of a fun weekend car with light bolt ons to enjoy.

I figure if I do make the leap I should wait till the new Vette is out and it should depreciate the current model even more.

I did t realize the regular z06 came with run flats (Hate those) and figured the magnetic ride was that good due to the much quicker lap times I've seen. Plus added benefit of being softer day to day. Sort of like the comp package on my m3. Comfort is VERY comfortable.

Most of the time decrease was from Michelin pilot cup tires and carbon ceramic brakes.

How much did those brakes run you?

I'm thinking about switching up to Carbotech XP10 Front/XP08 Rear. Mine does DD as well, though short commute nonetheless. Are those fair for street driving as well?

Next season I'll likely run separate brakes/rotors/wheel-tire for track altogether.

If you are in San Diego, drive up to Murrieta and have Cunningham Motorsports work on your Z06. They are very well know for their work and customer service.

Just popped in to see where my thread had gone. LOL. Always amusing. My Z06 def turns more heads than the M3 did, not sure that its a good thing. I always like the 4 door stealth mode deal. It's been said over and over, both great drivers cars, both built for different tastes. Ive had her for over 2 months now and still smile every time I push the button to start her up.
