Wow a lot of Cayman owners here! I will be joining you as well my GT4 arrives late in the year. Wish there was no delay in those bucket seats but I would rather wait for them than settle. My plan is to keep the M3 as well!

Great write up! I too have plans to snatch up a Cayman. Made a deal with the CEO and I'm now in the process of building a new house first. Added a 3rd spot in the garage so that the Cayman GT4 can share space with the M3. No way I'm parting with my E92...........Phil

Wow, similar to us, our new house with 3 garage should be complete in the next few months. Only issue for me is I also need to get a lift put in so that I can park the gt4 inside above the m coupe. Other two bays are full as well with m3 and Macan turbo. What do people do that have even more cars?

My lot size and configuration limits me. Have 3 car and would like space for about 10.

A new GTS should throw down 300whp on the button.

It will get beat up top by an M3.

Should be fairly close since little more slippery aerodynamically.

Well....that depends on the driver....and the type of road. Anyone who buys a car like a Cayman to "beat" another car, however, is seriously looking in the wrong direction. In any case, my modded S6 with over 630lb-ft of torque will happily eat almost anything for lunch and spit out the bones, when I am in the mood for that sort of thing.

Nice collection! In a few years I'll be moving into a house or building one with a 3 car garage. Currently have an e36, e92 and will get an M2 when it comes out. I've considered long and hard about a Cayman, but it's just out of my budget unfortunately. But one day, I can see myself owning one (used) over a 911, which I never thought I'd say.

I partially blame this forum for my car collecting issues haha

Yeah, I too am starting to lean more towards the Cayman than the 911 Go figure!

Next car was always going to be a GT3 for me but then this GT4 was released and swayed me. Also the crazy 997.2 GT3 prices increasing have not made it worth it as well.

Great post. So jealous. I'm currently talking with my local dealer to get a Cayman GTS as well but in my case it will replace my M3 as my DD. Because of that, I will probably go with PASM vs the full sport suspension. I test drove the S model a few times already I similar to you, I don't think I would lose anything going from the E90 M3 to the Cayman. The roads here aren't straight enough to get over 100MPH anyway so a lot of that power on the M3 went to waste.

I came from a 475whp 335is manual to a pdk cayman gts. The cayman is faster below 70mph all day and the power above 70 mph only would get me in trouble. The trade offs for power on the cayman is well worth it for every other aspect that is excels at.

Congrats on the new ride OP.

Congrats! Nothing needs to be said about the brilliance of the cayman. You'd need to spend 2 or 3 times more money just to match its handling and driving experience,.
Throw the Porsche Sport Exhaust on there. Heard one recently with that and thought it sounded better than any M3 exhaust set up I had on my 2 e92 m3s, which was about 18 different combos.

As I said previously, up to at least 100mph the Cayman GTS feels as fast or slightly faster than an e9x M3. It definitely does not feel slower. There is a video out showing that an M3 will pull on a Cayman S at over like 120mph, but likely will be neck and neck still with a GTS. Again, however, nobody should buy this car to win drag races. In the words of the engineers at Rolls Royce, when asked how much power their cars have, their reply was simply, "It is sufficient".

GTS comes with sport exhaust as standard equipment
