I've had Camaros, Challengers, Chargers, G35/37s, to even a pesky Chevy Cobalt. The Colbalt clearly had blowoff valve and tin can exhaust. He just kept trying and trying on I-64 towards VA Beach. Each time I'd leave him and then finally slow back down on my trek and he'd keep coming back looking for more.

Oddly enough RARELY does anyone try to race me, most just give me a thumbs up and we go our separate ways. Or maybe they see the baby seats
Good post. Street race is a very bad idea. I used to do it in my native country when i was very young(was undefeated undisputed champion of my town), but i would not do it here in US, as if they catch you, they can arrest you for reckless driving and impound your car.
I agree, m3 is not that fast at all, unless its SCed of course. My car is SCed with catless exhaust, dct makes it scary fast. But when i see someone challenging me to race, i just smile and move out of their way.
I get my itch on the race track

It goes both ways. Some A$$hole in an M3 was riding my ass when I was in my Viper. I briskly accelerated and then this dude just starts going crazy weaving in and out of traffic almost crashing twice. I just hung back and watched it all happen.

Yessir it does... I get a lot of M3 and 335i drivers trying to race me often... but my usual route on the 110S freeway is notorious for CHP's hiding near or behind exits...

The whole issue of street racing aside, the M3 is just not a super fast car to be racing with. Yes, in the grand scheme of all cars, it is plenty fast, and fast enough for me, overall, but a modded Civic can outrun an M3. The beauty of the M3 is in the precision, balance, and subjective feel of everything.

On the other hand, I do have my modded S6 with 630lb-ft of torque and all wheel drive which will just plain send me into the next galaxy at a stop light drag.

I agree that the M3 isn't considered "fast" among other performance cars, but a civic would have to be pretty heavily modded to outrun an M3.

I never understood the joy of drag racing.
I don't rate the skills required compared to navigating a car around corners.
And for this reason, I rate handling waaaaaay above straight out speed.

A drag race is a sprint, not unlike the 100 meter dash. I understand the appeal and that amount of acceleration force can be fun to experience. However, I also value balance and handling more. A certain amount of speed capability is obviously important but any car capable of getting to 60 in the low 5s or better will do that for me.

So when its a Friday night, and i am with all my car friends. We are on the highway. you think we are going to find a public road somewhere and make a track out of it ?

straight line racing is very easy to do, and its fun when your car actually has some power.

yes if i lived closer to a track, and my friends also tracked a lot there. I would love to track the M a lot more.

they both have there fun moments. you can go watch tons of videos of people with dash cams pointed at friends, family, random girls etc.. having the time of there life doing high powered highway runs.

Pics of the S6 man! I think the S6 is such a compelling car. Even unmodified it's a beast. Nobody ever sees that car coming, it's such a sleeper. I test drove one for fun after a got the S4. I couldn't believe how beast the thing is right out of the box. I don't need 4 doors and will probably not keep the S4 for more than another year or so......no need to have a larger 4 door car but I love the S6. What tune you running? APR?

Drag racing actually involves a lot if skill. Highway pulls not so much. But launching perfectly is harder than you might think if you haven't done it. Go to your local track and give it a try so you can see for yourself.

Road course racing requires much more skill than drag racing.

It's the guys who do freeway pulls and think they are drag racers who have the most to learn.

Here you go:

Tune is from APR v1.1, HRE P43SC wheels with Michelin PSS, H&R lowering module, Stasis rear sway bar, Deval rear diffuser, Hella Micro DE driving lights, Blinder HP905

I keep my "racing" on the track.
Racing on the street (in any form) is too dangerous; not because I think I'll run off the road but because the environment is uncontrolled and someone can do something unexpected. On the track, everyone is aware of the situation.

Anyway, I'm sounding like the Fun Police. I'm just saying I like corners (on the track) better than the straights....
