Can anyone tell me what this part is?

Morning all!

I had my car into BMW over the weekend for new rear tyres. They cleaned the car as normal but when I was driving I noticed this plastic part in the footwell. I can not see where it has come from as nothing seems to be missing.

Anyone recognise it?

+1 Technic nailed it.

Just slide it onto the rail end for the front seat. It must have popped off when your car was getting vacuumed.

They look a lot bigger in the pic than they actually are. I went to check my car since the tracks look like crap, and thought maybe they were missing in my car, but all 4 are there, just covering the very end of the tracks . I also have like half a foot of carpet not covered by the floor mat; BMW needs to do a better job there on future cars. Never had a car look like that even with the seats all the way back (they're not all the way back on the M3, or it'll look worse).

It's the muffler bearing extractor. Tech must have left it in the car.

I've also noticed a significant amount of forward 'floor mat creep' to the extent that it occasionally interferes with pedal operation - seems like those two velcro discs which can become dislodged are not up to the task of keeping the mat securely in place.

Not a big issue but nevertheless good feedback for designers. Oh yeah, and how about a dipstick? And a glovebox big enough for the paperwork that comes with the car? LOL.
