Opti-coat
After doing some research, I decided to get my car opti-coated.
Clay at Before & After Detailing here in Raleigh, NC did an awesome job. I had entire car (paint, wheels, lights, carbon bits, etc) opti-coated. Only windows were left alone. Came out great. So far I tired to wash off wheels with a lil soap and water, and all break dust just comes off! That is all.

I'm thinking about getting this done too. So I'm glad to hear you like it! I just found out you can opticoat over a clear bra (detailer told me he could do that too).

I opti-coated my jet black E92 a few months ago, I love it. It is so easy to wash the car now and it stays clean for longer (2 hours instead of 1 hour )

I just received my opticost 2. Can't wait to apply it but paint correction takes a loooong time with jaraz black. Who would have known so many blue sparkles were hidden within the black. Will post pics aswell.

I had mine done in April, amazing the difference with swirling and overall look when clean. Didn't know it can go over a clear bra (I have the front clip all wrapped). Top it off with some tech shine and it will look like you forgot to dry it off.

I opticoated my new ZCP wheels before installing. Best decision I have ever made. I just spray off the wheel dust like it's nothing.

Do you guys who use opti, wax over it? I'm currently using Dodo Juice white diamond, but I would like this opti underneath for added protection. I've heard mixed reviews on waxing over it, from "it doesn't stick" to "it adds a world of depth". Since I'm alpinweiss, I don't expect a lot of depth, but there are angles where the gloss white makes a difference, especially in low light.
Thanks for any advice.

i would think it depends on the detailer...but like most of have said, it's more about the prep prior to OC application..so a good detail is key...the OC application from what I've been quoted from a few detailers is anywhere from 200-350...

I was charged $125 for detail/paint prep, and another $250 for opti-coat.

It's interesting how they're charging more for OC as it really doesn't take much more time/effort to apply over a regular wax/sealant.
I guess they're charging for the extra protection....along with losing business from regular wax jobs. |

my detail is costing more...it's a full detail ext and int with paint correction and all...but i'd rather have those corrections before OC application..so don't mind the price...

Yes a full step correction is needed before a coating, but just for opticoat it seems some charge an extra 200-300 or more over a wax. Not saying its not worth it.....just an observation

Opticoat applicator costs around 80 bucks. If the car is grand excessive paint correction is needed so its all profit for the dealer.
