You won't be able to play video with this cradle either since there is no video out from the lightning port.

I don't care about the video... the cable attachment is more important for me because it allows charging.

If you're doing BT streaming of music, especially if are listening to a streaming service like Pandora, you battery will get zapped fast. Better to have Lightning cable transmitting the audio (vs. BT) and providing power at the same time.

Why do you need the cradle attachment? I'm using a normal lightening to USB cord and it charges my iphone while transmitting music. With the lack of Video or Ipod Out for the lightening port, I don't see the need for cradles unless your phone is running really hot and you want a fan.

I didn't say anything about the cradle.

I thought it was confirmed there will be a different cable or so it seem that will support video out.

The cradle charges as well guys. I have the media cradle for the iPhone 4 and it's great w BMW apps. I am always using MOG. And it integrates to the idrive. Shows album art, search functions, etc. The only difference Bw the cable and cradle when you have bmw apps is you can't stream video w the cable. And the cradle is a lot neater!

I got rid of my iPhone 5 after 2 weeks. After owning a 4 and 4s for years the 5 was pathetic.. You guys seriously need to upgrade and get away from the older iPhones... Just saying..

Not that I've heard unless Apple is changing something.

I'm pretty sure we won't see Video Out on the iPhone 5 (or going forward), because Apple wants you to use Airplay. Obviously that is not going to work in a vehicle, but watching video on a car's built-in screen is a dicey proposition anyway for both Apple and vehicle manufacturers.

The part number checks out with BMW as a media snap in for iphone 5, but it's not available in the UK yet.I suppose that's why there's no Eu markings on it.

I haven't upgraded to iphone5 yet just because of the cradle. My signal is rubbish with the phone in my pocket. The signal boost from snapping in is more than worthwhile.

Assuming you already have the iPhone 4S cradle installed, just use a connector cable to connect the current cradle to the iPhone 5. Assuming you don't want to wait, that is.

iPhone 5 cradle is now officially available. That is correct Part number 84212338568. You can get it for roughly $280-300 USD

One thing though is I am not sure if it supports iPod out. So if it doesn't, I don't understand the real point of this cradle. But if it really can't do the video/ipod out, this cradle will be as effective as this DIY
