The only thing an aftermarket tune could do to cause a limp mode on this car would be to have the torque limits set incorrectly. Any issue outside of that is hardware failure related.

Thanks for the information - do you know how torque limit is actually monitored?

no no, my car has a huge problem with the DSC system. The entire ECU needs to be changed and I don't know if it has to do with my pwr loss. Bu the car lost all DSC function ABS, Crusie control and auto handbrake on a hill. People tell me is will cause a loss in power because the ecu notice a loss in safety. Is it the actual reason for loss in pwr I don't really know, but I have to get all problems fixed first before I can pin point if it is the ICV or the fuel soenoid.

And exactly what is causing it? I am suppose to get a Powerchip tune in a month, and do not want this to happen to my car. Resetting my ECU after a tune will be a major pain to get my car reflashed by Powerchip.

Your lose of DSC, is due to the angle sensor in the steering wheel.
Did you do the BMW performace wheel in the same time as ECU?
If the steering angle sensor looses it center reference point. the dcs is deativated, an you loose cruise control and all that stuff.
i had that problem when i did the performance wheel install, had to get it recalibrated at the dealer.

Resetting the ECU does not require a reflash.

$hit, that is what I told the dealer and they said not that can't be it. Did you felt a lose in power?

Do you have a link to the GIAC-equipped M3 expericing this? We have 0 reports of any vehicles entering limp mode.

Tom, I think he was talking about my car. But I don't think its the file. I think it has to go with me DSC failure and now its causing things like (footwell module) error and the car just doesn't seem to be as responsive

Footwell module hosts a number of things, but I don't think it plays a part of how the DME functions.

I got 4 malfunctions last night. (1) Engine malfunction - reduced power, (2) DSC malfunction, (3) DBC malfunction, and (4) start assist malfunction. Service tech at BMW San Diego thinks it is a DSC sensor malfunction. I'm taking it in tomorrow. I have Dinan exhaust and ECU. I'll let you know the results once thry fix it.
