Anyone go from loaded 3 series to BASE M3?

Hey guys, there are currently about 3 or 4 base 2011 M3s for sale within a 200 mile radius of me. One of the dealers is offering me a really nice deal that I'm considering. Question is - will I regret going from my relatively loaded 3 series (Premium, Winter, Ipod, etc) to an M3 with nothing? Has anyone else made a similar move? The car itself isn't even a question, I'm just a little worried about the options (or lack thereof).

dude, get the options... the car will retain better value with those options. If you're going to pay for something that high might as well get something you really want and enjoy it.

unless they're giving you a ridiculously low price then you can spend the extra on mods and keep the car

you have to ask yourself what you can live without....

Search on this website on some major features that were discussed:

1. i-drive, non-drive
2. speed cloth, leather
3. EDC, non edc
4. moonroof
5. cold weather package, fold down rear seats
6. heated seats
7. rear sunshade

The m3 is at it's best in it's most basic form.

Went from fully loaded to fully stripped and couldn't be happier.

Depends on what you want and can live with. Is this car for racing or general use? I use mine as a GT car and want to have options on it. When spending this much on a car, make sure to get it the way you like it - don't skimp just because of a better deal and not be happy.

As I told one dealer I spoke to: Even if the car had everything I wanted except for a minor $250 option, I'd pass on it because I know it would bug me for the duration on having the car.

But, if the savings are huge, that's a whole another story!

said this before in many threads, but the only need option IMHO is bluetooth, and thats mainly due to it being illegal to talk on the phone without hands free in a lot of states.

I've got that and leather, and I kinda wish I had speed cloth.

IDrive, leather, iPod are all must-haves for me. My current car has these features, and I would miss these creature comforts if I had to give them up on a new $60K+ car.

I do wish I had opted for speed cloth seats though.

A fully loaded M3 is the perfect combination of class, luxury, and monster in the closet

I got everything on mine, Comp Package, i-drive, everything... Only thing I didn't get was the moonroof. Sometimes I miss the moonroof because my last car had one, but when I roll the windows down, gas it, hear the engine, and let the wind flow, all those feelings of regret go away

All that said, the car in it's base form is definitely just as nice!

if you are coming from a EVO, a base M3 will be luxury. I prefer strippers though

Edit: only thing that might bug me is the cheap looking base trim, I would want carbon fiber leather or aluminum

Just to add to my original post, the only options I use on a regular basis are the Ipod adapter, the Bluetooth, and Sirius. Not saying that I NEED them, but I think I might miss them. Should I ask my dealer if it's possible to add them at this point?

They are giving me the car for $56,998

In the context of the M3 and not all things, I am ok having features that I don't really care for than wishing I had them. I don't have parking sensors and have wondered if they would have helped avoid curbing (lesson learned the hard way).
Also, I can always drive with the EDC setting to Normal, but hey since I have it, I use it (it isn't a need thing at all).

If you're planning on heavily modifying your car I would get base.
