Many women, including myself, don't like cologne so keep it simple and also, when you meet someone, ask if she likes it.

Bleu de Chanel. A little spritz goes a long way. It's a clean sophisticated scent.

Eau de $100 bills.

Women love the crisp smell of Benjamin Franklins.

Cheap and lots of it. Work out of my house and use it to avoid showers, if I had to pay a lot for it I would just take a shower.

But I am married so what do I know?

Gucci Guilty is probably my favorite cologne of all time.

Make sure its the original and not the black version.

Gucci Por Homme II. Strangers will stop and compliment how it smells, weird yes, but by far favorite scent. I buy it on Amazon, haven't found a store that sells it anymore since I believe it's discontinued.

Second for Chanel Blue. Wife loves it on me. All depends on body chemistry though.

Best thing is to go to a store and sample a cologne. You can take the list guys are recommending here and see which one suites your nose best.

And please don't use cologne in the morning!
Why no cologne in the morning? First time I've heard someone say this.

Agree that it's best to check out colognes yourself. Good to have a list to narrow down though. I have used quite a few over the years but the two that were the most memorable were Polo Blue and Mont Blanc Legend (the MB smells like a bag of fresh money). You need to try it on and walk around for a few minutes before deciding. I've tried a lot of the colognes mentioned on here and while they smelled good from the bottle, they did not smell good on me at all.

Two colognes I recently got, like, and complimented on are Creed Aventus and Creed Green Irish Tweed. You can get GIT for $150-160 on sale from time to time at Walmart (legit stuff surprisingly). For Aventus you can go on Basenote forum and find someone who does cologne splits. I recently got a few fl oz of Aventus for $130. The same amount costs $350-400 in stores.

I've tried out Tom Ford Private Blend Noir, Acqua di parma and Grey Vetiver and liked them as well. I really liked the Vetiver and almost bought it. Probably will do a split and get an oz or two in a few weeks. It's good stuff.

The smell of Doritos and broken promises always brings back memories of my childhood.....(and Tab, but that is now illegal in EVERY country).

That's a good one.

To the OP: I use L'eau par Kenzo.

Also, if you can smell it 10 feet away, you are doing it wrong. Should never be applied over the collar.

In the morning our noses are most sensitive, and although your cologne may be suitable for your nose you may cause headaches for everyone else around you. This happens a lot at workplaces hence why many are enforcing fragrance free environment.

Had a colleague come to work every morning with a heavy cologne that is suppose to be worn at night time. Needless to say he was giving everyone a headache at the office. I had to have a talk with him.

It is important to note that fragrances come in different concentrations. You cannot simply spay them equally on yourself. Some may require one spray in the air and then walk into the mist, while others may require two sprays below ear. Why below ear, well that is simply because your pulsating carotid artery will actually help project that smell into the environment.

Also, you should never wear a cologne to a job interview as it may kill your chances of getting hired.
