Someone else can clarify, but as I understand it, you'd need to add the Combox in order to get iPod/Bluetooth. This is a pretty serious upgrade, I don't think it's something the dealer can do. However, there is a DIY version I've read about here. It's not cheap though.

I have 0 options. I don't really care. I spent the money on Mods. Do what pleases you. For the price of the nav and stereo, you can get a nice exhaust, rims, etc.

You are paying for the engine and drive train. The rest is just unnecessary fluff.

You have a vert, that's the pinnacle of unnecessary fluff.

Ha, that's one of the few options the car actually has - it comes with the aluminum trim.

Oh, I agree but the current rates on the '12s are just terrible though. The rate I'd be getting on the '11 is well worth it.

Lol true, true. Like I said the most important options for me are iPod, Bluetooth, and Homelink - so nothing major. If they could be added, then I'm good to go.

The M3 in question only has one option, which is the blue-gray aluminum interior trim, that is it. It also has the CF roof of course.

sounds good to me, 11 have the mdm as standard too right(m button on steering wheel)? It will give you higher threshold DSC which is nice for the street and beginning track.

OP, as you can see, your going to get opinions from every angle about getting a car with options vs a car with no options.. my advice ( because I have a 2005 330i fully loaded) is to wait and get a car, or even order a car the way you like it.. 65-70k is not pocket change to the vast majority.. if your going to do it, do it RIGHT.
I have on more then just one occasion been just a signature away from used M3's, to M3's with minimal options. At the end of the day, I couldn't justify spending that much money on something, and not being 100% satisfied with the car... long story short, Im still waiting it out, and saving my pennies until I can get the car the way i want it.. MORAL OF THE STORY= GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT

+1.

OP, I'm not suggesting you load it up, but if you *are* using iPod/Sat/BT then you should get them. Actually I would suggest you get the iPod/Sat and get BT via the BMW-Garmin Nav Pro kit (which is what I did).

What's more, if you order from scratch, you can go via Euro Delivery which will either save you around 7% more. PM me if you want a good sales person in the DC area.

Hmm, I didn't realize that you could get the NAV pro kit with the M3, I might just have to look into that.

Search on this website on some major features that were discussed:

1. i-drive, non-drive
2. speed cloth, leather
3. EDC, non edc
4. moonroof
5. cold weather package, fold down rear seats
6. heated seats
7. rear sunshade
I have (nearly all) and think none are wasted:

1. Yes, iDrive
2. Extended is sumptuous (but one option one could drop)
3. EDC - would definitely choose again unless I spent all my time cruising LA freeways
4. Love the moon' - sense of openness without the negatives of 'vert
5. Fold down = major road trip advantage (storage)
6. Heated seats - use them maybe 20 days / year but love them when I do - especially early morning country drives ~ 30F
7. If you live in a hot / intensely sunny climate - most underrated option. Use it a LOT.

How long do you plan on waiting it out? Production won't be around forever lol.

OP; you're not really helping us to help you make an informed decision.. Do you plan on modifying your ///M? I'm not just talking rims, I'm talking hard engine upgrades, exhaust etc.. If so then get the base otherwise order a 2012 Fully spec'd. It's also a game changer if you're buying out right, leasing or financing. Don't worry about term rates, look at the residual rates and you'll be buying the final year M3 in it's purest NA V8 form!

Good luck but give us a little more info

EDIT - why are you only looking in a 200 mile radius? Try 500 that way you could drive it back, or even nationwide and let the stealership deliver it to you..

My apologies, I will be doing some modding for sure, but nothing too extreme - possibly intake / exhaust. I was originally thinking of leasing but now I'm leaning towards financing - they are offering 1.9% over 60 months.

I just snapped some pics of the car today, I'll try and get some pics up later.

As I told one dealer I spoke to: Even if the car had everything I wanted except for a minor $250 option, I'd pass on it because I know it would bug me for the duration on having the car.

But, if the savings are huge, that's a whole another story!
I find that buying used you have to compromise a little on options since it's not like you can "order" a used car. Luckily mine had every option I wanted and then some.

This is all very subjective, everyone has their opinions.

When I got my M3, I got it when Premium, ZCP, iDrive, Premium Sound, Heated Seats, iPod.

I swore that if I did it all over again, I would simply get the car with ZCP, Heated Seats, ZPP and iPod and that's it. For some reason I thought eliminating the iDrive and Premium sound would make the car feel more sporty. Boy was I wrong.

My buddy just got a Sparkling Graphite M3 with only Premium, iPod, heated seats, and I am glad with the decision I made. The car doesn't feel any more sporty or pure or raw by any means, it just feels more naked.

I have come to realize over time that the grass isn't greener on the other side with things like this.

Personally, I know this is an opinion, I would get the options. The ergonomics of the interior does not affect the cars performance in anyway.
