Kevin/Tom, do you guys have a db meter in the shop? I want to check if my car is under 105db so I can head out to Laguna Seca in Sept.

Btw, looks like we will have some nice cool temps tomorrow...much cooler than last year.

Yes, numbers will be passed out on-site. Get in early to secure a spot.

I don't have a decibel meter handy, but there's a few iPhone apps available that will give a rough estimate. I have one we can give a try with tomorrow.

Tom, a couple F30 guys are rolling out as well. Are you doing any installs tomorrow? Thinking about grabbing a BMS stage 1 while I'm there.

Best numbers from my runs: 369.15 max power, 268.69 max torque

Very happy with the numbers, relative to the mods. Thanks EAS - enjoyed it.

Didn't stay to dyno. I had prior plans to spent time with the family after 11. I was #10 so it was going to take till 12:20ish to get my turn but next time. I've dynoed there b4 @ 421whp, hoping to have gained a bit with adaptation.

Do you track the GT3? If so, I am usually in SOW and Big willow. Would love to see u there.

Definitely some beasts that showed today. I came by late, wish I had come out earlier since I hear there was a great turnout first thing this AM. My F30 was definitely outclassed by M3s though LOL. Thanks EAS for hosting!

Does anyone know what Adam's numbers were after he fixed the meth?

The Dyno Shootout turned out great, dynoing 20 cars that day (whew!)

Adam updated his thread with the results:

So I went to the dyno and results were pretty bad but I learned quite a bit and I will be fine tuning the car over the next couple weeks.

I will be posting dyno's as soon as I dial this in completely, but the bottom line was that the dyno demonstrated that as soon as meth was activated, it was killing power. Initially I was using a 625ml/min nozzle recommended for cars 500 to 600 RWHP but was clearly too much water/meth.

Power dropped to a max of 544. Second run did only 530. What was interesting is that I overlayed my previous dyno that I did a few weeks ago after installing the 650 kit where I made 583 RWHP...and the power curve was identical up to the point where meth started flowing (activated at ~ 2psi @ 4,750 RPM). From 4,750 RPM all the way to redline power dropped considerably. So clearly the water/meth was robbing power dramatically. Not good.

Good news was that I dyno'd early in the morning (at the EAS dyno day) and so I had time to go to MRF Engineering and have Malek swap in a smaller nozzle (375ml/min). The I went back to EAS dyno later that day and made 563 RWHP, so a definitely improvement from earlier in the day but still less power than I made without water/meth.

So the next steps will be getting a few nozzles from Snow Performance and going back to EAS to dyno to "fine tune". My guess is that an optimal nozzle will be in the 175-250 ml/min range, and to have it set to commence at 3-4psi and progressively increase but to not ever hit max flow (i.e. set max flow at 12-15psi with the controller which it will obviously never trigger 100% spray).

So I learned a nice lesson that just adding bunch of meth indiscriminately will kill power.

What we did see was very stable IAT's. For all the meth runs, IAT's started at 93 deg F and increased only to approx 95 deg F. Whereas on my previous non-meth dyno where I made 583 RWHP, IATs also started around 93 deg F but increased to 103 deg F. Clearly showing IAT improvement.

Hopefully I can figure this out soon will post dyno's and more info.
We'll be doing some testing with different nozzles to find out what's best.

Everyone, thanks for coming out. Good seeing some familiar faces and new ones!

Thanks again to you and Steve for staying so late to help me do additional testing!

By that time you guys had been there for 11 hours and were probably dizzy from all the fumes and half-deaf from over 100 dyno pulls.

Appreciate it at always! Be back later in the week!

Congrats Nik on taking the top HP trophy!!! Your car is a beast.

See, a little octane really wakes these things up. Hopefully you can make the next Airstrip Event on October 5th/6th. You will do really well!!
