How about an X5M or a X6M? There is an M5 Touring but I don't think it's available in NA.

When I was at IND they told me that is a project they would love to do.
It wouldn't be cheap but they could build you a factory correct M3 wagon. The ideal situation would be to buy a damaged M3 sedan as a donor and have a 328 wagon as the car you swap all of the parts onto. I too would love an M3 wagon...... if BMW made one I would have bought it instead of my sedan. |

That would be one fast, handsome grocery getter! Btw, there is a project in Taiwan that plans to transform the e91 wagon to an M3. Here's their build-up thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=446704 You should subscribe. |

Anyway, an e91 M3 project will be a first in the USA. I have been thinking of doing an e91 M3 project since '08. If I have extra $$$ lying around, or if I win the lotto I would contact IND immediately and will be very proud if they can do the honors for the build. This is still a dream of mine that I wish would come true. M3 wagon FTW! |

That mentality is the reason the fucking X5M and X6M exist in the first place and the reason people think as soon as they have a kid they have to rush out and buy a god damned SUV. Ford and Chevy did the greatest marketing/brainwash job in automotive history. There is a HUGE difference between a wagon and an SUV, most notably in how they drive. Some people need the extra cargo space of a wagon, some people prefer their look, but almost no one that wants a wagon NEEDS an SUV. |

No kids here, but I do have a very active lifestyle (skiing, snowboarding, biking, rollerblading, etc...) and I just happen to love wagons. Quote:

^^^That is EXACTLY what I have in mind. I think once I get ready to move on from the M3 or decide I want to get back into another wagon I'm going to find an E91 and do this swap. That is GORGEOUS.

I would go for this in a heartbeat. Hell, the X5 my wife is looking at is in M territory in terms of price. I am trying to pry the Kool-aid out of here hands for an SUV, but I think that she is getting bored with her Sienna (sure laugh, but there is no more practical of a vehicle in FWD). At least the X5 and X3 has some semblance of handling. Granted, I saw this when I was last in Florence, Italy, but evidently Mercedes sees the market for a beast of a wagon:

One of my trips to the Ring I saw a woman driving an E55 AMG estate and 2 RS6 Avants. I haven't seen an M3 touring in a while but I love me some superwagons.

If only the 335i came to NA in a wagon... I am trying to convince myself that I could live with a 328i wagon: RWD/M Sport/ 18". It's a sweet looking wagon... if only there were a few mods to get decent HP up from 230.
The next gen 3 series wagon will not be coming to the US. Wagons are cool... damn crossovers and SUVs have ruined the US car consumer. No Audi S4 wagon, no hot wagon from Volvo... forget Mercedes. |

i love the fast wagon concept. the first wagon i loved when i was a kid was the old volvo 850 wagons. the t5r wagon came out in 1995 and was the fastest production wagon at the time. 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. one of my buddies had one when we were in college and it was a blast!

1995 855 T-5R is probably the best / unique wagon out there. I had a pleasure of owning two sedans and my best friend still has one of the 40 yellow wagons in the country.....

And let's not forget the F1 Medical car.
Wagons drive basically similar to their sedan counterparts, and really have a small, negligent weight penalty over the sedan. You get a lot more utility with them over a sedan. In fact you'll get as even more cargo space with the rear seats folded than you do with some SUVs. I also think sport wagons look fantastic. |
