yeah and the 4-5 days I mentioned earlier is with Zero street miles....only run them on the track. I would run a square setup and rotate them around to all four corners.

I got 6 days with 2,000+ street/highway miles on my first set of NT01s but that was when I was running 13CW from 2:08-2:14. I don't slide around since I keep the nannies on so the tires wearing after 4 days is probably because I'm running much faster now.

The tracks I am on are quite smooth. They reseal the surface to prevent cracks ( winter heaving) so the surface is not real rough. They have concrete in the high wear areas and that is even smoother.

When it rains the southerners often slide off the track and into those close in walls. We tell them to be careful. Wet seal coat is slick.
Agree with arter--I would easily get 10 days out of a square set of NT01s with judicious rotating, but no flipping. We both run in advanced in the Northeast, and arter is faster than me. There must be a significant difference in track surface vs. California.

Brake pads are a different story--I've burned through more than 50% of a new set of front Pagid RS29s during a 2-day weekend at Watkins Glen.

That's impressive. Guess the Glen is tough on brakes eh? What do the RS29s run in ST60 spec?

Interesting...I got 14 track days and a bunch of street miles on my Endless pads but am only getting 4-5 days out of the NT01s.

My guess would be that the Glen has a smoother surface than the tracks that you frequent in California (and therefore the Glen and other northeast tracks are easier on tires), but the Glen's multiple high-speed braking zones burn through brake pads in no time. In comparison, a set of Pagids would last at least several days or more at Lime Rock, where there is only one significant braking zone.

Pacific my home track has horrible surface that hasn't been fixed since the 80s. I practically need 4wd to go there but still get 8 days.

Texas World Speedway (TWS), a pretty high speed but old track seems to eat tires. Circuit of the Americas (COTA), a similar high speed track with some slower, tighter turns...should be harder to tires is actually really easy.

I can't figure out what dictates tire wear. I thought it would be heat and COTA would eat tires alive because its got a couple of hard braking zones after long straights. Where as TWS is a track that flows and only has 2 somewhat tight turns...should have cooler tire temps?

Interested to learn more.

Maybe COTA has a smoother surface because it's brand new and designed for F1?

TWS is really old and so is the pavement. Shouldn't that be polished smooth? The COTA surface is very grippy compared to Road America. My ABS has never noticeably kicked in at COTA. Which would lead me to believe that I'd get more wear at COTA.

Does the asphalt have anything to do with it? I don't know.

I'm thinking the extreme desert heat here in SoCal has a lot to do with it. You know, hot rubber becomes very soft, run that on rough track surfaces...

But even in the winter when it's 40-65 outside at the track?

We just drive more FLAT OUT down here because most of the tracks don't have many walls and going off just gets the car a little dirty...

Well, how many of us in SoCal ran one set of NT01's all during a given winter? The sets I've run extended from hot August/September months and finished in the winter, or started in winter and finished in hot April/May.

Yeah, that adds to it too, for sure.

Can't be butt hurt, I don't know and neither do you that I wouldn't come there and run better times. Never been on socal track. May make thunderhill but don't know if that counts. Run a few rain days here and might make you feel like a sissy though.

It's a slow afternoon, gotta entertain myself somehow.

BTW, let me know when y'all might come down to Thunderhill. I've only been there once (it was the first track day going DSC off full-time, in June of 2012), so it might be a good friendly battle for us. I know USCTrojanMan29 likes that track, so perhaps he'll join me there.
