Parking lamps indicator

I recently picked up my m3 couple days ago. I noticed that the parking lamps indicator is on every time I drive when I have it on automatic headlamp control. Is this necessary ? How do you turn it off? ( i drove a 335 coupe previously and it didn't have this on that car)

That indicator lets you know when the headlights come on automatically. That way if it starts to rain and they don't come on (required by law in some states), you can switch to manual operation. Normal.

Do you have daytime running headlamps enabled? That may be why the indicator is on during the day.

I had the same problem. The dealership made the repair under warranty the third time I asked them to look. The other two it didn't show on their error msg download for some reason.
