M3 Options
I have a non-changeable spec on an M3 and have a few concerns about some options I missed - any thoughts chaps?
1. Headlights. I have not chosen the adaptive headlamps nor the highbeam assistant. Am I going to lose out on much? At the time I thought they were insignificant but now a lot of people are telling me they are musts?! Are they? Has anyone got them? 2. ICE. I only went for the Hi-fi loudspeaker system. Should I have got the one above it (the Hi-fi Loudspeaker Prof DSP)? What are the differences? Is it a big difference? I feel I have been a bit of a cheapskate in this department and have made a big mistake ((( Any comments/thoughts much appreciated. Thanks. |

The adaptive headlights/high beam assist are standard on the US spec M3 and we only have 2 options when it comes to stereo: stock or premium.
As a result, you'll likely need to get another Brit to answer your questions as the US guys here won't have experience with your option set. |

Adaptive headlamps work really well and are very nice to have, but you wont miss them. The highbeam assistant doesn't work well in my short time of using it. Its a bit discomfiting being mid corner and it switch from hi beams to low to say the least...
As for the stereo, I'm assuming you spec'd the Logic7? From what people have said its very good, I have no first hand experience sorry. I know how the wait can get to you, don't worry all concerns will go away once its screaming at 8400rpm :agree: |

Thanks for the heads up mate. The stereo I have spec'd is "Hi-fi Loudspeaker" which means you get more power with a better amplifier and the extra speakers which take it up to ten.
But you're right, I think I will forget about these options once I've got the beast! Two months and counting... |

I've not ordered the adaptive headlamps and the highbeam assistant; however after much deliberation I did order the Hi-fi Loudspeaker Prof DSP option (code 677; £820) instead of Hi-fi loudspeaker system (code 676; £390)

Damn - makes me feel like a cheapskate now! I was unlucky because my dealer made me rush all the options! I could still change it technically but then my build date will go back another 6 weeks!

that's my experience in the US, but I am not sure if that is true in the UK. |

I didn't even know there were different statuses (or statii)?
I basically got a call from them saying that I need to tell them the definitive non-changeable spec ASAP (a couple of days after I placed my initial order) because their build dates are being pushed backwards with 'any' option change. |

I've heard something similar from my dealer in the UK, he said he'd changed a spec slightly for a customer week before build and it got sent back 4 weeks, they take UK orders out of the build queue when they are changed and put they at the end of the list.

Although it may be too late for Berb, i always think that if you are on the fence about getting an option or not, you should just go for it.
a year later you won't miss the money, but you'll still wish you gotten that extra item. just my .02 cents for other who are debating certain options. |
