How many clicks from min to max volume?

If anyone is curious, I was bored and counted the amount of clicks of the volume knob it would take to go from silence to max volume. The way I measured max volume was I turned the knob until it stopped getting any louder. I counted 64 clicks from min to max.

Is this useful information? Who knows, I was just bored so I thought I'd share

and if you raise the volume to the max
10 clicks lower is the correct setting to adjust your amp Gains
as max is 55, so 55-10 clicks is 45
which i believe is the highest setting before the signal starts to distort
i believe the default setting when you first turn it on is 29

but its weird you counted 64 clicks
isn't the maximum 55?
if you press the m button on the head unit within 10 seconds of turning on the car
and hold it in for 10 seconds
you get the system menu
and under audio i think you can show the actual volume settings
and if you turn the volume on max its 55

What M button on the head unit? All I have on mine is buttons 1-6, FM/AM, and mode. I tried holding down mode but got nothing. Also, I've gone to full volume with my current setup and haven't heard any audible distortion with my ear. An o-scope might tell me otherwise but I didn't hear any obvious distortion or compression.

This is the first car I own in a while that doesn't show volume level at least while adjusting it. Inexcusable with iDrive. Oh well.

OP, do you own an M3? It does NOT have an 'm' button, as previously stated.

That only applies to the OEM HU, the OP has iDrive.

so i guess that means that on idrive equiped cars the max volume is 64
and on non idrive its 55

so the extra $2100 for idrive/nav buys you 9 extra clicks
at a cost of $233 per click
so relish those extra clicks you idrive owners
