Question How do you control your ///M3 Desire ~ Frenzy

I think it is time to find out how some of you out there have managed to call it a day and not constantly think of getting into a another better more updated ///M car.

In other words, what have you done or what are you doing to break away from this, what I like to call “frenzy” we seem to have sunk into when it comes to our cars. Like no other members on this board we ///M3 drivers seam to be the most active of the bunch when it comes to our beloved car.

It goes without question that the fine folks at BMW’s ///M Division constantly keep our interest in high gear so to speak. Almost if there is a subliminal goats build into our car that simply does not let us rest and be happy or satisfied with what we have now.

This seams to be even harder now with the end of the e9x in sight as we will have to say so long to the beloved V8. I have to be honest, I fall between spot number 3 and 4 below and time will tell how I manage to achieve this goal.

So the question then is;

“How have you or how are you managing to control your desires”

Yes a Poll is in order to answer this lingering question … I’ve thought of 10 altogether in what slot do you see yourself?

Think about it before you vote or comment. Thanks for playing.

Cheers,

Rolf

Definition of a car freak … You are a car freak if you recognize (and always did) your favorite car from almost a mile away okay okay you can me I deserve it

Porsches.

I really like my M3 but I'm fine with it the way it is and have no urge to replace or mess with it.

But, I have a 997, am buying a 996TT and slowly creeping around the internet in search of a mint 993 C2S. I just can't get enough 911s

OP the word you were looking for is "seem", not "seam". The latter is a completely different word. Sorry, I'm OCD like that.

To answer your question, back road drives, cold startups, and admiring my car (especially when driving by a glass building), and that V8 sound help me fall in love with it over and over again. I'm hoping not to be tempted by the F30 and that NA V8 will likely definitely help there, but we'll see. The one thing I really DO wish I had was the F30's HUD.

Agree with Philip on his point, making it unique to yourself is always fun

While I love driving and hitting the roads, my other passion aside from flying and cars is detailing. I'm NUTS about clean cars. I have to constantly have the perfect smooth as glass finish and the gloss factor has to be off the charts. I'll spend hours cleaning everything.

With great difficulty. A healthy fear and loathing of speeding tickets somewhat helps.

Porches are fine automobiles I stop at the Porsche Dealership here and then on weekends. Last time I stopped I saw one for $147,000- I think it was a 911 Turbo. I just looked at my M3 parked and said too myself I get two M3's for that cash ... then made my way back to my babe and drove home

Good luck in finding what you are looking for.

Thanks for the heads up ... I've changed the word. It happens to me quite easily since English is not my mother tongue ... thanks again no need to be sorry, I stand to be corrected.

Of course you are right with what you point out, most of us are behaving in the same way

By HUD did you mean "Heads-Up Display" or did you mean to type Hood?

That is one way to see it as you describe ... I am much like yourself I simply cannot stand dirt on my car(s) they have to be spotless. Once spring arrives my M3 will get his first detailing job

I do not find the car to be that exciting to drive. I don't care as much about power anymore, just want something more involving to drive on a day to day basis. I think the next generation M3 will probably be worse in this regard but of course better technically in every way. Of course if they practically give it away like they did the E9X M3 these last few years, I will hard pressed not to get one.

Not sure what I will be replacing it with. May give up on buying the "best-all around car in the world" and go for several more dedicated cars. Still thinking about it.
In 3 years time I will have to go to just one car. In the meantime I will make many a trips in my M3 exploring some of the fun roads and places here up north as well as down south.

Once I change then the car has to fit a certain niche it has to be comfortable for my wife (she loves her C350 4MATIC our DD) and of course satisfy my own needs. All I know is it will not be a M3 since my wife stays clear of my toy unfortunately so it my be the new 3 Series then the 335i or a MB E500 or if I get away with it the MB C63 ... like you I am not sure at this point.

Just remember this next time you get stopped

This lady comes speeding up the road the Highway Patrol Officer hiding behind the tree stops her with his radar gun ...

Officer to Lady "I've been waiting for you all day"

Lady to Officer "Officer I came as fast as I could"

The Officer laughed so hard once he calmed down he let her go with a warning

So good luck to you and be safe

Thanks Everyone for sharing your thoughts

Keep the cats out of the garage Sean

That wasn't the quote I was quoting, btw, I don't agree with that quote. Nobody gets 'tired', the word is 'bored'. Most virgins have a difficult time understanding this.

I have a sponsor that keeps me in check

I've managed to resist mods for more than a year but that is coming to a close soon but I think in all seriousness I got a great all in one car so I don't feel the need to change cars!

Jon, that sponsor sounds dangerous ... still a great idea I must agree one of the best ever all around designed cars for sure.
