C'mon guys... I know the 3er crowd is all about a dolla for a dolla but you buy an ///M and you're concern with gas mileage, geez.
Soon BMW will address your gasoline needs (DynamicEfficiency) and the car will get heavier/lighter, longer'shorter, etc... and there's one more thing you will complain about. Gimmany Crickets.. No more for me... These threads are tearing me apart!! Nah, but seriously, You Bought an ///M... And I am by no means Mr. Money bags, I just know what to expect coming into a purchase like the ///M.

my observation with my (sold ) Boxster were decreasing fuelconsumption with increasing age(and milage): from 14.7mpg to nearly 20mpg on a mixed autobahn voyage of around 200km ( 120miles). also the mpg is better at 70 than 60 mph ( 26mpg , 24mpg) cant explain why... as stated above the way of driving is crucial for the mpg, and of course the mileage of the car. does anyone know how to get the best mpg with the dkg m3? 70mph in 7th gear without any breaking? just some days left till i get my baby... |

It seems to be gettign better over time.
Using Aral Ultimate 100 or Shell V-Power Racing 100 and driving in mixed condtions on PSC+ tyres I had the following fuel consumption: 1. Up to 2000km average 21l/100km 2. From 2000km to 6000km roughly 18,5l/100km 3. I am at 8500 now and getting 16,20l/100km I dont think it will get any better from here. At the same time 16,2l/100 in a 415hp car sounds fair to me. Bigger tank would be nice tho. It is not the lightest car anyway and they could squeeze in additional 15l. Would make life much easier. Btw. A colleague fo mine in an RS4 stays above 19l/100km all the time. Best |

Id still like to know why BMW M did not try to implement direct injection for this engine. Maybe they were too lazy?

I picked up my car in Munich today drove it to Frankfurt.
On the 260 mile drive, I averaged about 19.2 mpg, doing about 85 mph for the most part. Cheers, CSL

I get way better in my M6 cabrio.. closer to 16mpg. this thing has topped out at 13.6mpg for me. It is disappointing. And for me, it IS THE $$$ THAT PISSES ME OFF! If anyone is implying that they dont mind paying $200 a week in gas for this thing, then they are lying. I cringe when I put my CC in the pump.

I read the post. Don't be angry... Go drive your M3 and take out your frustrations on the road, then fill up. Go out and drive once again. Fill up again. Log on to the post and you'll see me posting a few more times. It's okay man, calm down... It's an ///M. Nuff said IMO.

I guess it's all good to know what others get (MPG wise) but with so many variables, I find it hard for any one to accurately compare. A guest-ta-ment is cool too but consider these items below as factors which allow my numbers to be totally different +/- than the next person. Type of gas Temperature Flat lands Hills Twisty Mountains Acceleration Car + additional weight Stop-n-go traffic Idling Windows open AC on Heat on Lights on Worn tires Improperly inflated tires People do not accurately read their MPG usage People lie about their MPG (Who knows why) Etc... so on and so fourth...

I agree. I prefer a NA any day. I just like their inner workings better. Nothing wrong with a TwinTurbo or Supercharger but NA is so clean...

You guys should not complain, us S85 guys are getting 9.8. So yes, single digits. I get on a good day 210 miles per tank.
