I like it. Your hands must be made out of ham (as Richard Hammond says) if you can't feel the difference between the first and second stop.

I certainly can feel it, but I will claim that, in my car, it is fairly subtle. It wouldn't surprise me that, if the detent in the switch is slightly malformed in certain ways, then it would be very difficult to feel, even for those are not hamhanded. Maybe those who are complaining about the way the switch feels need to go check it out on another car to see if theirs is defective . . .

If it's that subtle, then maybe something is wrong. In my car, you definitely feel the click to have the blinkers permanently on. It's definitely a nice touch, because I miss it when I'm driving the 4Runner or the E30.

If you can't figure out the turn signal stalk I don't think I want to see you operate a manual transmission.

Seriously? For those who are complaining about the indicator stalk, maybe you just need to get a little tougher...

I don't get the fuss about this, it's so easy to operate.

tap it lightly to flash 1x/3x
hit it harder until it *clicks* for it to stay on
hit it the opposite way to cancel

what's there to hate?

My first extended road trip in my M3 was a DC-WI run. I left at 4:30am, and it was still dark for another two hours. And since it was dark I couldn't really see which stalk I was grabbing, meaning I would confuse the indicator stalk for the cruise-control stalk.

So a desired adjustment to the cruise-control settings would result in the high-beams going off, myself cursing at the damned stalks, and some other driver probably thinking "another goddamned asshole in a BMW!" It happened at least three times until I managed to train up the correct muscle memories. Overall I do like the setup though.

You have to enable it in the idrive first though.
even if you don't have idrive, you can set it to blink either 1x or 3x in the lane change mode by using the settings on the indicator stalk.

I'm not saying I can't tell the diff between 3 blinks and actuation to continuos blinking. My issue is some times when driving, I forget which one I selected and can't tell by feel if it is already set to 3 blinks or continuous.

Humans really will whinge about anything and everything haha. Not exactly rocket science as other people have mentioned. Good luck to the guys who are struggling with your indicator stalks.

love it. feels very nice and is easy to use. took me only a couple short drives to get used to it.

much higher quality feel than any other car I've owned (including my 997, which had a very flimsy, plastic feel to it).

I don't like how close they are to the DCT paddles - half the time I'm washing windows or flashing brights instead of shifting LOL. But I love the function now that I've gotten used to the indicator stalk.

The cruise stalk is one of the easiest I've ever used.

Press up or down to turn cruise on and off. Direction doesn't matter because it's a toggle and you don't have to press any buttons because the feature is always enabled.

Once on, forward sets it faster and back slower.

Instead of moving the stalk to the opposite side to cancel click it in the same direction. It will cancel and no accidental light to the other side.

Maybe it's just me. I'm very much used to pull used to set, and up and down for accelerate/decelerate.
