Nothing can beat the HID for brightness.

Hard to say since I don't know your level of experience. You can check the video that Alpine made though and determine for yourself.

If you can follow directions its not hard. I went with LED's in all my past e9x's because the operating temps are so much lower.

HID's are bright, but often they are so bright there's light wash and the center ring on e92/93's becomes obscured.

The new AiB's from EAS and LUX H8's are very bright, have long life/warranty, operate cool, and hold their value for resale... thats what I call a win/win/win/win

If the OP truly wants the brightest though, none of those LED ones will compare.

True.

IMO there's a level in which there's marginal return for increased brightness. Hence the popularity of the nice LED options vs. HID.

The operating temps of the HID's worry me as well. Your turning your headlights into small ovens. There's a lot of heat being generated there with your lows, cornering, and HID AE's.

In regards to temps, the LEDs get as hot as any halogen easily, that's why they have to have that massive heat sink.

My understanding is that the heat sink is to keep the LED circuitry cool and within operating temperature. Those little epoxy boards will melt if they get too hot, what too hot is IDK, but I don't think those diode's are anywhere near HID's operating temps.

I've seen a LUX/EAS or someones comparison to emitted heat energy from the various options. I'm guessing you've probably seen it as well, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: cant find it. lol

You are correct, here's the picture you are referring to:

LEDs are nowhere in the ballpark of the heat ranges by Halogen/HID.

None of the aftermarkets can compare to the brightness of the oem LEDs on the new cars. I've seen many 3 pre lci 3ers on the road next to the wife's lci 328i e92 and from the rear view mirror it's always a big difference. Those light up white or blue but just not as bright for some reason. I really want to upgrade the color of the m3 rings but I won't sacrifice brightness

The smaller halos and individual LEDs for each halo are definitely help.

E9X M3s use a fiber ring for the outer beam and plastic lens for inner ring, which has already been phased out on later BMW models.

What do they use on the current BMWs? All the new x5s I see have bright white halos.

One month ago i asked about the upgrade to the oem white corona rings
at my BMW dealer, and yes they are incredible bright and white.
But they cost 800 euro's per side x2 =1600 euro's = 2.064 USD !!!
Without 1 day installation costs !!!
But currently i am happy with my Alpine HID's.
So.....?!?!?!

All current models (excluding M3) use the smaller halo and individual LED per halo setup.
