It sounds like you paid about $2,500 over invoice. I think most are paying between $500 to $1,000 over invoice.

If you are leasing, make sure the dealer gives you the base money factor as well. Many will add to it if you don't know the difference.

Sigh. I knew that I was not getting the best deal.

I agreed to pay $1500 over invoice, which amounts to $71K and change, including gas guzzler tax and destination. MSRP: $72,145 before Gas Guzzler Tax.

If it's any consolation, I don't know how many people outside of the 'forum world' regularly get as good deals as the ones we see in this thread.

I know in Canada, there isn't that degree of competition (also why our cars are 20% more expensive), and people don't get the $500-$600 over invoice pricing either. It was only through (a heavy volume) forum like this that I ended up knowing what were the basement prices obtained (in Canada) at least. Only with that was I able to obtain a similar deal.

Don't let it dampen your enthusiasm about getting the car man. The difference between getting $500 over and $1500 over is like $20-25 a month depending on your financing arrangement. Nothing to lose sleep over on a $70k car.

$1500 over invoice is the "standard" M3 price in the Bay Area. I asked for a quote from all dealers. Some quoted me at $1500 over. Others started higher and would drop to a bottom line of $1500 over, and said they would not go any lower. I had to go out of the area to find a better deal.

Thanks for the feedback, I am not leasing. I did better on my trade in. That is what made the deal happen, plus the fact that I got business from them... I am shooting a few videos for them.. so all in all everyone was happy:-)

Just remember guys always negotiate the price of the new car before you bring in the trade. A lot of times a dealer will show they are giving you more for your trade (which customers want) but they are actually rolling in extra into the sale price of the new car.

just a rule of thumb.

They don't do that at Steve Thomas, right?

All delearships do it, but in our situation we sell all M3's at the same price been this way for 3 years so it doesn't really apply to forum members

I can respect that. Nice to have a dealer that is straightforward and don't jerk you around. I have personal experience with Steve Thomas and it was very positive. The deal did not go through but the way Francesca and her management handled the situation can only be classified as honest and classy.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty excited. Especially after I finally saw a Melbourne Red car in the flesh on my way home from work a couple of days ago. It was a 2012 model and the owner had just received it 2 weeks ago in the Bay Area after taking European Delivery and having driven it to the Nurburgring! Anyway, it was beautiful. My car can't get here any sooner. According to the 1 800 number, it's sitting on a dock waiting for a boat to pick it up. How long does this wait take?

2300$ over invoice is way to much imo. You can find a lot better deal out there. If you need a comparison quote feel free to shoot checa an email fortiz@stevethomasbmw.com with your specs and she will shoot you a quote
