Im actually trying to help my friend sell a 2003 right now. It was owned by Kenyon Martin brand new (yes, that K-Mart of the Nuggets) and he sold it to Nene (yes that same Nene). Its got 50k on it, V12 (thats a nice engine, let me tell ya) with the full 'Strut' styling group package, as in 22" black rims with deep dish chrome lip and all grills. Car has a body kit (not sure if its custom), custom stereo with built in touch screen and built in ipod adapter. The interior of the car is in fantastic shape now (I detailed it personally) but the outside needs a detail. Car is black (swirls everywhere) and needs a professional, but the paint is otherwise in great shape and the car has just gotten new brakes (pads but no rotors I dont think).

He is only asking 38.5k for it. The car has every option possible too, so it was going for 150k new. Its crazy to think thats all its worth now. And he is only asking extra for the car because of all the custom work it has done to it. Ive driven it and it handles extremely well for a large car, and V12 pulls nicely, but it gets 15-17mpg if lucky. Not an effecient car in those regards.

Ill have a link later to the ad Im going to post for it. Its a cool car but not something that I could own, especially as a DD. He wants to sell it mainly because he wants something smaller and more economical, even though he already has a DD SUV.

I can bet there is something wrong with that car. When you got 30k miles 335's selling for around $30k there is NO WAY that a 760 with 31k miles will sell for $44k unless there is a problem with that car.
Carmax is selling it, clean history report.

I agree.

But when you buy a car that came with a high sticker price, the maintenance and repair price reflects the original sticker price, not the current value. When buying a V12, you have 12-24 spark plugs, lots of oil, and lots of stuff to take off to get to the other maintenance items...in short, it costs a lot to maintain.
A 2006 in 2006, $180k for $50k? What am I missing?

I have a 2000 740 purchased in 03, supposed to be a money pit. Maint. was supposed to be $1k-3K a year and I have never even come close to that in repairs, I have seen $5k+ for others. The price might be high for a non-CPO, Las Vegas has one for $37k/ non-CPO. It is worth less than $44
Yes, they depreciate like rocks but like any BMW it is all about the ride. You do need to know how to fix cars and get into them.

If you have a family and want them to be safe then get the 7 but like the 335 you have to think HPFP in the back of your mind.
Owned 8 years and only one tow- expansion tank. Mine was not made on a Monday.

The dealer near me has a CPO and their cars are pristine for comparison.
