I want to be BRAVE

Hello guys

I have been driving my car for a year now and i did many mods including exhaust, exterior, interior, wheels etc but no tune no sc.

I really love my car,now i want some more power BUT i just cannot be sure about the engine.I mean this engine was developped for NA so compression ratio is just not right for a sc setup.

I know ESS have done 200+ kits with ZERO problem.I believe them and i want their 625 kit.

I don't want this thread to turn into a which sc is better. Please guys convince me for this kit.

Every single day i am thinking about this.I want SC but if...

So,guys how can i really be sure that everything will be just like stock and no engine failures will happen.

I also take care of my car.My car is 2011 DCT with 33.000km on the clock.

It's a low boost kit, so it's designed for higher compression.

This should be an easy decision for you - since you take care of your car. I don't. I beat the snot out of mine. It is used for racing purposes on the airstrip, track, drift sessions, etc. It has 8,000 hard miles on it. Not one hiccup, not one check engine light...nothing. I just make sure I run higher octane.

I have low miles...there are other with over 100K miles and similar experiences. I'm very happy especially because I do not know how to work on cars myself. So a reliable product was the main concern.

Good luck.

Why are you asking for convincing? You already convinced yourself.

Opinions/experiences like yours are good to read. I'm convinced about S/Cing my M. My ONLY concern at this moment (after a very thorough research) is installation. No ESS authorized dealers available where I live. I've thought about installing it myself but don't have all the required tools nor a lift. If I'd live in the continental US, my car would have been ESS S/C'd a long time ago...

I have a very skilled mechanic so that is a big bonus for me.
I am convinced yes but the octane ratings are not really true in my country.
The highest pump gas is 97-octane but it is 93.4 in reality,i can run methanol or toluene of course but pump gas is really bad here.
A liter is about 3.5 dollars and thats for shitty 93 octane

93 octane is fine. I only have 91 here in Cali but I also have 100 at a gas station near my office so I mix before I go to a race event.

Euro fuel is RON and US fuel is AKI.

95 RON is similar to 91 AKI and 98 RON is similar to 93 AKI.

The VT2-625 kit requires a minimum of 91 AKI / 95 RON.

Not sure why. Roman clearly states that the PREVIOUS 625 version (not the current one) was designed for 93 AKI only.

Let me break it down for you:

Current VT2-625 setup:

To run 6.5PSI version: at least 91AKI
To run 7 PSI version: at least 93 AKI

Roman, please correct me if I'm wrong.

What happens if octane quality is low.
Does the ecu quickly adapt itself for the specific octane rating ?

Do not put lower then recommended octane in the car! The one bozo who bought Biglare's ESS kit put 91 instead of 93 and a shot of 89 In there. Engine went boom.

You'll love the kit man. So much fun and they are very reliable. Tons of people with them and no problems as long as you maintain it properly.

I think it just runs 6.5-7psi and its 91 or 93 if you want

Perhaps it can adapt to octane without needing a different tune. Not sure. Hope Roman can chime in.

The new / current VT2-625 is safe on 91 and 93 AKI fuel. The older version of the VT2-625 was designed for 93 only as some remember. Running 93 AKI will result in slightly more power than running 91 AKI but both fuel ratings are safe.

While I don't have the 625 kit, I did have the 535 and am upgrading to the VT-1 550. I have really enjoyed the ESS SC and I track between 12-20 days a year using 93 octane.

The SC transformed my M3. The power is linear and impressive.

OP be brave and pull the trigger. You won't look back!

What's up GI, yeah Roman answered this but one other observation...I have the 91 octane-rated 625 kit...and when I dyno'd on 91 octane with my catless x-pipe I was at 543 RWHP. I then filled up with half 91 and half pump 100 to yeild a mix of ~ 95 octane and dyno'd at 567 RWHP...so the ECU definitely adapts. Bummer that you don't have anyone to install for you...maybe you can fly somebody in I know it's extreme and a large extra cost but that's what I would do if I were in your situation. Just ask Roman what tools are needed and have those ready for the installer.

People have been putting S/C on cars that were made for N/A all the time. not just on M3`s.

It really comes down to if you have the money to repair if something brakes. Its having a disposable income on that amount also. Chances are probably on your side for failures not happening.

If you are worried, do not get one. I had a heavily modded a car in the past, i was more worried about reliability more so than anything. Its not like you can drive up to your local dealership anymore for every problem. i mean ya your warrnety would be void on engine, but its the fact that i wouldnt even want a dealership touching a modded engine. So being far from my shop at times did worry be.

. NOTHING is 100% in the modding world. You gotta pay to play.
