M3's torque plateaus at 3k(and has more at the wheels than my 335), isn't that mid range? It will indeed be interesting to see what they do. I wonder if it will end up being as misunderstood by the masses as the brilliant V8. |

is the v6 really out of the question? and would it be that bad?
what about the tech from the x6m (innovations in timing and turbo) with 2 cyl. removed.? honestly i have faith in the M division and cant wait to see what they do next... no matter what direction they go. |

Said if before and I'll say it again, nothing will beat a high revving NA POWERED M soundwise. I've had my e92 m3 for a little over a year soon and it still puts a huge ass smile on my face everytime i slightly touch the gas while cruising or if i go WOT. And performance wise im pretty satisfied with the V8 platform and if i wanted to go faster, id SC the e92.
If bmw will start make the m3 with turbo, I'll most likely will go porsche GT3 next. NA POWER ftmfw! |

Right, just like housing price will never go down and vaulted Toyota will never have quality issue. If there's anything that's constant it's never say never or always.

the F30 M3 will be better than the E9x in every way. Any argument u can talk about, it can be said the same about the E9x compared to the E46. |

Wow...
That narrows down the choices for my next car... So now I am stuck between getting: - A used e92 M3 with a stroker kit - A used Porche 997.2 GT3 - The new 5.5 liter twin turbo C63 AMG. - Cadillac CTS-V - Audi RS5... I know, I know, I should hate myself if I choose this Sorry guys, I am an ///M lover and have been for most of my life, however I cannot justify going with the a forced induction I6. Especially the N55, an engine originally developed for the 335. It seems that every new M car recycles the engine from the standard BMW series variant with minor tweaks. It is a leap back and M GMBH seems to reduce emissions rather than increase performance. The S52, S54, S65, and S85 engines will go into the history books as the best engines of all time. However, it saddens me to know that they are the last of their kind. No more high revving, symphony producing, naturally aspirated engines.

I just can't believe that their changing the perfected (franchised?(: NA platform. Why can't bmw be more creative and put more effort and engineering behind the F30 M3 like i.e benz (enginewise)? You rarely see benz dropping turbos in their highend models, why should bmw? FAIL!

I have been long predicting the demise of the M division. It would be more like a regular beefed up regular BMW with an M badge on it with 7000 rpm redline all across the board.
It was no rocket science seeing this clown called Segler created the X5 M and X6 M and then followed it with a 4500 lbs M5 with basically the same engine and then followed it with a 135 M...ooops, I mean 1-M that sounds like well, a 135. Now it is the M3's turn. This guy makes Bangle look like angel, seriously.

I can't believe all this hate for the way the turbo six sounds, the N54 sounded pretty bland but the N55 is a completely different animal. Have you guys even driven one?
Go to the dealer and test drive a 135i with the windows down flat out. The E92 M3 is one of my favorite sounding cars being made at the moment but my 135i makes me giggle like a child every day (although it's a totally different type of sound). I don't know which part of upshifting is my favorite, the wastegate venting or the loud pop from the exhaust. |

///M division representatives always agreed on two things: 1) Will you ever used FI in your cars? "NIEN!" & 2) "You can't make 1 engine fit all; it prevents one from constructing a well balanced car." Cheers, e46e92

Even merc now designs engines specifically for AMG from ground up (so to speak). Cheers, e46e92

Faster is not always better. I really don't care about "faster"--if I did I'd go buy a Mustang and mod the hell out of it; or better yet a 'Vette and do the same. There, faster, done. It's about balance, handling, "feel", agility, nimbleness, and fun for me. I'm sure it will be "better" from a numbers standpoint (faster, better track times, etc.) but will it be more fun? (Well, if stoplight drag racing or pure power are your thing, yes.) If you're into other things in your driving experience, then no, it will probably not be more fun (especially if they don't address the obesity problem). |
