He cut it too sharp and almost backed right into my left back corner. I honked the horn at the same time he had to pull forward again in order to re correct and back up. He stopped his car, and rolled down his window, screaming at me saying, "what do you want". I said, I was just alerting you so you won't hit my car. He started telling me that he knows how to drive. I was like okay, so next time I should wait till I am hit before I honk the horn.. I was thinking well, if you know how to drive, why did you need to pull forward again to re correct that problem and please get off the f..en phone specially while you are backing up out of a parking space. I didn't say any of that, and I was polite and just said, okay, I was just being cautious because my car is new. He actually got out of his car and came up to me and just shouting more and more, and said something about people scratching it while touching it when they walk by it, and started to get closer to the car and had his keys in his hand. Now, this guy was a tiny man, that I could have crushed with just one move, but instead I remained nice. I got out of my car and put my body between him and the car and just kept saying okay to whatever he was shouting. He gets back in his car and backs up and gets really, really close to my car on PURPOSE to get me really nervous before he peeled off in his really old KIA. I can swear that I did NOT do anything to cause this little man to get angry or be acting like a jack azz. I was not being rude either in the way I honked, and he did get really too close to my car. Long story short, there are some real haters out there.
if someone gets out of his car and walk toward me, i would run.

I wouldn't go as far as shooting someone or even pulling a gun out on someone over a car, even if it's an M. I hope you were just kidding about that. Also, a bit of advise from someone who knows something about carrying a pistol, you should never announce to anyone that you "carry", that's why it's called "concealed".. You will loose the element of surprise if you give them a warning or a heads up. The last thing you want to happen, is for you to get shot with your own gun. I am not picking on you by any means, I am just watching out for you. One Turk to another

Agreed. Do not ever say you "carry" especially if you don't . You never know how the other guy will react

It's funny that when I used to have my E36 M3 with a supercharger and supersprint exhaust, people started swearing at me for driving too fast; when in reality, I would drive 25 mph in a gated community that my friend used to live in. Arrogant people! I had a guy tell me: slow down there are kids here. I said politely: i am driving 10 mph on this 100 feet long driveway, and it is the sound of my exhaust that you keep thinking I am driving 55 mph on this 100 feet long driveway. F_ _ _ _ _ g prick.

Hate people that think you are driving fast when you really aren't.

I feel like posting here. Some of this is true for me too. I have home in a small town in North West Ohio. The basic vibe from the area is that people hate my M3. If its not American made the hate is felt.

I live currently in downtown Chicago. I have an x pipe and Borla Atak exhaust. Earlier today, some kid started yelling random insults at me. Ofcourse he was walking with some girl and looked like a tool. But anyway, I just didn't get it. I wasn't speeding and was at idle.

After this I did a nice burnout and the kid ducked down. I guess the sound echoed from the buildings. It was not a finer moment of my life, but man i enjoyed that LOL.

Why must people insult performance???? I have always owned performance vehicles.

Anyway this has me considering returning to stock exhaust. Any thoughts? I have my stock x pipe still and would have to buy another stock exhaust. Plus that thing is heavy and hard to install.

I wouldn't worry mate. There will always be some acting like a prick about your exhaust, your car or something else. Fortunately 1 of 100. Keep your exhaust and enjoy.

This should pass in a couple years.

For the first 10-12 years of driving my e46, everyone hated the M3. Then it reached a certain age, ~2-3 years ago, where I think people are seeing it as a "classic" now...? Whatever it is, thumbs up and pictures everywhere, now.

e9X is 7 years newer, so you should be 4-5 years away from the transition from douchmobile to classic

I personally think it's the car and possibly your age. Yes people hate BMWs because they are jealous but I also think it's with all nice cars. It's a matter of perception. I've have nice cars all my adult life and anytime I was driving something less than nice in my perception I didn't have any problems even when I may have been driving "reckless"

People don't specifically hate the M3. Most car people actually appreciate it and like it. What people hate is the pretentiousness of many BMW drivers, and that haterd extends to the drivers of many cars that are perceived to be "high end". What a lot of people (including perhaps s few on this board) don't recognize is that BMW isn't necessarily high-end in terms of price, and a well-optioned, new pickup truck may actually be more expensive.

+1 an Escalade of all things is literally in the same price range as the m3 and that chrome thing sure doesn't give off the same vibe as the m!

Interesting topic as i just picked up a used M3, I'm fortunate to own a Porsche 911 and trust me that you guys don't experience near as much as the 911 owners. People tend to associate brands such as Porsche and BMW with snobbery and elitism but can't realize that there are quite a lot of us that are just car guys whom have worked hard to get these cars. Unfortunately these brands have gained this reputation and unless these cars become more accessible for the masses it will continue..

Its so ironic that i constantly get tailgated and raced by white males in F150 and other similar trucks which run over 50k..which is actually a tad more than my older 997... You have to exercise such self restraint and i always say to myself that karma will get these individuals....

Yea its always funny when the 'must be nice' comments come from people driving luxury trucks and SUVs that cost them twice as much as the car I'm driving

Yeah, I'm with the others who say that people don't hate the M3, per se. They might dislike the price, the people who drive them, or that it's imported. But the car themselves? Perhaps some real knuckle draggers.

For me, I always liked the M3, but never loved them. They kind of sat between pony cars and the 911 and above. I dig my e92, but not sure if I would have ended up here if I didn't happen to rent a c63 on vacation.

Last week I brought back 1MOREMOD first thread ever. That was from the 1980's when he had a gold exterior with tan cloth interior and he was asking what his first mod should be. Someone suggested he leave it stock. Which he has followed ever since.
