Price Check - Deal or No Deal?

Whats up fellas,

Im in the market for a pre-owned E90 M3.

I managed to work out the following deal on a trade in vehicle at a lincoln Dealer ship.

Let me know what you think about the car.

2010 Model Year
Alpine White / Bamboo Beige Interior
DCT Transmission
Tech / Cold weather package / Navigation / Ipod integration
73xxx Miles (high Mileage)
1 Owner vehicle / Clean Title.

Car is in great shape, looks almost new. Ofcourse a PPI will be done on the vehicle prior to purchase.

Dealer asking 34,500. I have him down to 33,250. My original offer was 32,000.

This price is before any taxes, keep that in mind.

What do you guys think?
TIA
Kris

For that kind of money I'd rather get an extremely minty E46 M3 or a lower mileage '08-'09 model.

Thanks for the input guys,

here is a link to the actual car. I do plan on keeping the car, not looking to get rid of it.

If you plan to keep it for a while, get a 08 with 20k to 40k miles for high $30s

Even with those miles a 2010 for 33k seems pretty good. You would be hard pressed to get a low mile 2008 for that price. I know I'm asking 37,500 for my 08 w/ 38k.

If an M3 isn't buyable at 70k miles it's probably not worth owning. I'de imagine w/ proper maintenance the car will run 200k. If anything I would worry about the electronics and I think a 2010 would be in better shape than a 2008. I mean you can still buy an extended warranty too. Easycare or Fidelity would both offer one upwards of 150k.

If you're looking for a nice 2008 E90 let me know Sorry for the shameless promotion lol.

OP, pass on that one. Look for one with lower miles. BMW upgraded the nav system in MY09. Not sure if this is important to you.

More to the point if the OP passed on this one and considered a MY08. Some owners put less of a value on the nav/info system while others want the latest tech. More of an FYI

Ahh I thought about upgrading my car for the upgraded NAV but then drove a 2011 around for a while and realized it sucks just as bad as mine. lol BMW is technology challenged IMO.

I was interested in this one because its DCT + 2010 MY.

there is a Silver/Fox Red 08 on Ebay. I love the color combo, but dealer asking 36K + 300 admin fees for it. To me its too much for a car that has 43xxx Miles. He didnt even want to budge 100 bucks!

I guess I'm out of the loop on pricing, but my initial reaction was "that's cheap."

I too would want a car with lower mileage, but given the year and mileage, you could assume that it was mostly highway miles.

Why do people want an earlier model year lower mileage car? Get a later model year higher mileage car. Means it was driven more often and didn't sit. That's what I would want. The ideal used M3 IMO is one with a good amount of highway miles on it. That way you can pile the miles on and not feel guilty, you get it cheaper, and it didn't sit in a garage. In terms of how "new" a car feels the build date matters far more than the mileage.

Sounds like a good deal OP. I am with the people whose first reaction is "that's cheap."

If everything checks out after inspection go for it! Dont let these people scare you with the high mileage. From what I have seen, people consider 30k miles high on this forum. As long as it was maintained it will run for A LOT longer.

What's up, new to the forum and the M culture but long time BMW owner, I also shopped this car and appreciate all of your insight. I came here specific to search "high miles" E90. Are you still in on the purchase?

well you asked for and opinion here is mine.I think if you search hard you can find a car that looks just as good or better with less miles.maybe you'll pay more but at the end you enjoy the car longer.I know if i buy a used car for that amount of money i want to enjoy it for a long time.
