my 09 taco

My first truck and it is an 09 Tacoma I4 2.7L 159HP 4x2 Rear wheel drive. The best part is it has amber interior lighting and rear wheel drive. It is no BMW but I really like it and is now my daily driver.

Nice truck but I'm curious as to why you went with 2wd?

My dad has a 2006 Taco 4dr just a option below being TRD Taco. The thing is a tank. He has almost 100k on it already and the only thing showing the abuse are the radio buttons.

You will love this truck, no doubt

I don't do off road and this is flat land territory I am in. I honestly do not know much about truck but heard others say Tacoma is a very reliable truck. Do you think I need 4x4?

Thanks guys for the compliment.

Do you ever foresee yourself ever taking the truck somewhere it may be necessary? Skiing trip, camping, hunting, fishing etc. that you may need to take a mud trail or a snowy hill.

If so and somewhat often, even once a year you'll regret not having the 4x4. The truck will be completely useless in those conditions as the rear isn't nearly heavy enough to keep proper traction unless you have a decent amount of weight back there.

If not, where you're only going to be driving surface streets and never leaving flat Texas with the truck then the 2x4 is enough.

You said this was your first truck as well. Be very careful around corners and the first time you drive it in the rain or snow(if ever?). The back end can break loose very quickly (again because of not enough weight over the rear tires). That truck is very Tq. happy so be weary until you're very comfortable driving it.

Well, I am trying to stretch my $ and I think I got a good deal on it. A 4x4 would have been out of my comfort price range and I still have to consider insurance and monthly notes. It will be used mainly on street surface.

What you mean this truck is very Tq happy? It is I4 159HP and 180lb ft Tq. I am so used to the 330i power and this truck just don't have that same feeling on acceleration. Thank for reminder to be xtra careful in the rain, I know what you mean about the tail being lite.

Actually, I am already thinking about changing out the 2 speed wipper with an intermitten wipper. But honestly, there is very little to take apart with this based taco.

That's all that matters then if you got a good deal and don't need the other features.

I didn't realize they even gave the Taco a I4. My pops has the V6 and man does the Tq. really kick on that thing.

I had an 04 Tacoma 4x4 before my E90. It was great reliable transportation. It always started right up, never needed a new fuel pump, etc. No turbo lag

As for 4x4 - I never actually used mine. Sure I'd put it in 4x4 when it was wet and drive for a few feet - mainly just to make sure it still worked. So props to you for not buying what you (most likely) won't use.

congrats, nice truck. I have a Frontier as a DD and I love it. It is so nice not having to worry about curbs, potholes and crap.

Your frontier is very nice, I think the newer frontier comes in V6 only. White seems to be the most popular color for truck. Just noticed my tacoma looks funny with 15" wheel
