Holy shit those things are expensive, but I want them. The only thing I don't like about the Thunders is the brightness.

Yes, adding blue tint to bulbs to make them "whiter" cuts Visible Transmittance (VT) or output making it through the capsule. The LEDs seem like a good choice, and they will not burn out in your lifetime. I wonder how they respond to the dimmed status when you turn on the parking lights? LEDs typically take special dimming equipment.

I don't know. I think an LED is safe as long as the diode forward voltage & current aren't exceeded. I can't imagine running them at a lower current for a short period of time would hurt them. In fact, I built an LED board a few months ago and ran it off of two D cell batteries to see how long it would last. As the batteries died, the LEDs just got dimmer. So I guess the same would go for the current the car is sending to them. As far as I know, the LEDs I used are fine; the lower current from the dying battery didn't hurt them.

I just did these on my car. I got the bulbs from Jlevisw. I had the same problem with a loose bulb on one side. I tried swapping the rubber seals and that did not help. Then I took a close look at the bulb to see what the deal was.

What I noticed is that at the base of each of the tabs there was an indentation. The OEM bulb had a much more pronounced indentation than the aftermarket bulb. Some of the tabs on the aftermarket bulb barely had an indentation. It's not easy trying to put that indentation in there so what I did was bend the tabs back. Even that wasn't easy. But the tabs need to be bent back slightly toward the base. After that, the bulb went in nice and snug.

If your bulbs fit, it will be an easy job. If they give you grief, you can spend an hour doing this.

Just got my PIAA LED ANGEL eye. I AM NOT IMPRESSED. Its not as bright as GP thunder... however the good thing is it balance the inner and outer ring.

I tried to run it during daytime... its not visible at all under the sun.

Updating pix soon.

Got me a pair, along with the GP thunders. Plan on putting them in this weekend. ill try to get you guys some good comparison pics (OE vs. After Market). I don't have high hopes for the GP thunders, but if i really hate them i can just take them out.

by the way the H3s I got are the Piaa H3 Super Plasma GTX

Nice

Be ready for some cut up knuckles and hands lol. I would suggest finding someone with small hands or small pliers.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying that. I have pretty big hands, and it wasn't that bad at all for me. I scraped my hands up more pulling the headliner to remove the upper console to hardwire my V1.

I agree... changing the H8's and H3's was the easiest mod yet... compared to the ghetto way i did the grill mod... the H8's were a cake walk.

took me all of 3 mins to change out the H8s.

much better than stock.. but not quite perfect with the headlights on i think.

Thumbs down

Greg, and others, you guys should not buy these things. Check this link and see the day pics. i guess these things look great during the night, but you can hardly tell during the day. just a word of caution...this is bad news for all of us considering these.
