new dinan suspension - few questions
Gents just got the Dinan Stage 2 installed friday...still getting used to it, but so far, love the "look" of the subtle drop, and can def tell a marked improvement in handling.
For those that have also upgraded the springs (whether H&R, dinan, etc.), was curious about two things: a) what EDC mode you have found best, and b) what tire pressure (cold) you best enjoy for handling / tire wear. I was running "sport" mode pre springs, but now find that too bouncy. The "normal" mode seems to be best compromise. As for tire pressure, I backed off the book recommended (36F/38R), and am running 34F/36R. Curious what others are doing? |

Stiffer does not equal better in all situations.
But from what I've read, most think normal mode is the fastest around the track.

I'm running H&Rs, EDC on Normal mode, unless I'm out on the twisties, which I preffer Sport mode then. Tire pressure is 35f & 37r.

Thanks man appreciate the input did you find that after the lowering springs, that the car has a bit of a tendency to follow the 'crown' of the road more? her in FL, there is a cignificant crown in the road for drainage with rain with the springs, the car now wants to more drft to the right (not at all a hard pull) than it did before...I got a great alignment, so I am more chalking it up to the fact that the car is all the more tight now, and likely more following the road surface. any other thoughts welcome

Mine does, not by much though, here in GA the roads are not as crowned as in FL. I think it is for the heavy rain. The car might have a little more of a negative camber, so it tends to follow the road more. As long as it is not pulling, it should be ok. If it start pulling, you might want to re-check the alignment on the car.

For everyday driving I run in normal mode and I have Eibach springs. I do go to sport mode if I know I'll be on a smooth road but otherwise its too bouncy. I do switch to comfort mode if I have passengers in the car that do not appreciate the stiff ride. I still run my tires at the recommended 35F/36R and I'm running 20" wheels now.

One last question guys....where do you have your servtronic function set? It originally seemed like a great idea, but the steering in the "M" feels somewhat light...could it be taht the servtronic, while helpful for certain people, provides too much steering boost? I need to read the book, but I assume it is basically either on or off?

Doesn't Stage II include the camber plates? If so, then your camber settings will be more important than you tire pressures. There's no reason to change tire pressure with a spring change. I'm running mine at 35R/33F for street. For autocross I run 29R/35F, but I've got -1.75 of camber all around on the Dinan springs and camber plates.

-Dinan recommends 35/35
-I found the stock suspension was best on sport but with Stage 2 I leave it in normal and it's fine. -Get the Stage 3- it's a shame to stop here- it ads the cambers and LOTS of fun! I had 2 and whent tp 3 and I'm very glad I did! |

curious...not really sure that I plan on doing any tracking of my car. While the Stage 2 made a nice difference cosmetic wise, and for much improved handling around town, isn't the main benefit of the Camber Plates for the track? My concern about adding them for a car that is essentially a DD, is that the increased Camber wiill make the car "twitchy." I live in FL, so there are not all that many opportunities for rapid turn in. The roads are quite crowned at times, and I was concerned about the Camber exaggerating that aspect even more

Quote:
The only potential problem with negative camber is if you don't ever drive the car hard, either on the road or competition. You'll potentially wear the inside edge of your tires out much more quickly than the rest of the tread. I don't have this problem but I've known people that have. If you drive somewhat agressively on the street, then there'll not be a major problem. Dave
