Shell 91 is the only one I notice a difference in improved performance. Others, including 94 are all the same to me. But again, maybe I just need to drive it harder. : )

Costco and safeway gas will put your car in ditch.
Stick with Top Tier brands, Petro Can and Shell And pls do not tell me there is no difference because there is. Safeway and Costco get off spec prodcut that still meets the min standards but the are not sold to the main stations to prevent problems. Why do you think it is cheaper. All of the main retail outlets are sold product above spec in everyway to ensure that they always meet specs. Even go to the stealership and they specifically say for all their cars Top Tier and nothing else. Anyone here work at a refinery and will tell the truth? |

Make This A Poll!
This should have been a poll. But I use pretty much Chevron exclusively because of convenience.
I have also read many times that most gas stations get the same gas from the exact same suppliers. The only difference is the additives like Techron, etc.

Sunoco 94 or Shell 91. Always wondered whether the Sunoco ethanol is a problem for long term/regular use... And if ethanol has negative effects, how come they sell it at Mosport!?

no Sunoco 94 here but be careful that the high octane isnt from using ethanol because over time it'll mess with your cats and foul them since the high water output of burning the ethanol runs the cats cooler and they do not have hot enough internal temps to effectively remove the NOx and other components they were designed for.
No prob with the cats if there are none. Then you just need to worry about screwing up the plugs since they are also sensitive and our plugs arent the least bit normal. They are a critical part of the engine operation sensing the detonation performance and reacting to those conditions immed. Stick with the Top Tier and your M3 has a better chance of lasting as long as possible Help support Alberta oil too so I can keep my job |

I only use Shell in the new M3.
I used to use Sunco 94 on the 2006 M.Roadster, and I was under the impresion that it was the best gas in the market untill I started having issue with the car so dealer told me not to use gas stations that have too much ethanol in there gas ( Sunco 94) |
