FT: 335i Sedan for your M3
I have a 2008 335i Sedan that is Alpine white and is 2008 with 38k miles, still under factory warranty and also is a CPO so the warranty goes for 6 more years or 100k miles when original warranty expires. Terra/black interior, Premium package, bluetooth, Cold Weather package with fold down rear seats, M Sport package. Interior is like new so is exterior, very well maintained, garaged and never tracked. I am interested in e92 M3 with DCT only, no manual transmissions. Upgrades: -Dinan Stage 2 performance software -Dinan Cold Air intake -BMW Performance suspension -M3 Suspension components (Tension strut bars, sways, control arms, upper brace etc...) -newest e90/e92 Competition M3 wheels (not pictured because I am currently waiting on them) -BMW Blackline taillights Last edited by Bpower; 04-12-2011 at 08:32 AM.. 1) Fuel economy, 2) More quiet of a ride, 3) More room going from a coupe (if anyone has a baby on the way), 4) More torque than M3, 5) Less insurance premium, 6) Peace of mind that the dealer will take care of you for the next 6 years of CPO warranty or 100k miles in case something goes wrong. I am sure I could think of more but for people who bought an M3 but wish they had as fast of a car but more of a daily driver than the 335is it. Not to mention it handles very M3 like with BMW performance suspension and ///M suspension components. Different strokes for different folks. I loved the 335i when I got it and I still do. I like to change cars often and M3 was one of the cars on my list. |

Trade with similar condition M3 + Cash? How much cash?
2008 335i should go for about 28-29k while most preowned M3 I have seen are between 43-45k.. When I wanted to trade my 08 E90 M3 for a bigger car two weeks ago, I was offered 39.5k by a dealer. A private sale might yields 2-2.5k above that. btw, my E90 M3 is about $600/year full coverage. So, you might want to take that off your Pro of owning 335 list. Good luck. |

As of giving cash on top of the trade I would need to see the car I am trading for. I get about 600 a year for 2 cars and a motorcycle for my insurance premium. Different state varies and its arguable and dependable on your driving history...lo...l . Its also posted for sale in 335i classifieds for 37 and on auto trader for 38. I know its worth the money. |

Also the dealer will be willing to give you higher trade, IF you buy a car from them. It may seem like you're getting an "extra" $1000 for your trade, but they're making >$1000 profit when you buy a new car..., also if you express financing through them, they'll even cut you a better trade...just saying when they try to make money off you, they sweeten the deal in other aspects just to get you in a new car. IMO your car is worth no more than $27k, You're def. going to need to put up almost $5k-$8k more in cash to get into a 08 M3. (depending no mileage and condition). Good luck with the trade, but I doubt you'll find a 1 for 1 trade. I would also suggest parting out your performance parts. You rarely get dollar for dollar back on the resale of parts. |

Ya bro, not to hate on you or anything, I don't think ull find anyone here that would give there m3 for your 335i withat least 8-9k in cash. You have to remember that most m3 drivers used to own a 335i and there's a reason why they got out of them. Me being one of them.
To answer your reasons above: 1) I got 23mpg driving down to Atlanta with a friend who had a 335i (now m3) doing some nice 30-100 rolls. Not bad for a v8 2) Once you hear the sound of an m3 engine you never want to hear anything else. Def. not something that's quieter. 3) my e92 was pretty big inside, it surprised me too. I rode in the back seat one time just to see how it feels and it wasn't bad at all. I'm 6 ft 210 pounds. 4) yes more torque than a m3 but there's a reason for that. M3's are more of a top end top speed car. Try taking on a m3 from a 60 mph roll. 5) like you said it all depends on the driver and there history. Clubspec is paying $600 for a hear which is great IMO. 6) yes you have the warranty but that's no peace of mind always worrying about when your going to have another hpfp failure. Yes the dealer will cover them even with out extended warranty but just waking up in the morning not knowing if your car is going to run or not was enough reason to get out of my n54 based cars. With all that said, I didn't want to be rude or anything. Just wanted to tell you why most m3 drivers bought there cars and not a 335i. Good luck with everything, if you find someone to trade with more power to you.

I said the cash on top was a possibility but only upon me looking at the car. I know I ''polish" my control arms and don't drive the car in the rain but that could not be the case with the M3 that someone kills at the track that I am not going to want for free. |

CPO warranty may be questioned by a dealer due to engine mods. Dinan warranty only covers 4 year/50K miles.
