second car....

I have a 2010 m3 as my weekend car that I love. I have a lifted wrangler as my DD, but I hate it. Its got crappy gas mileage, its noisy, and I always want to drive my bmw.

I was thinking on trading in the wrangler for a 2009 328i. What do you think? Only problem is I love going snowboarding and have two dogs. I live in socal, so snowboarding is just a winter hobby. hmmmm

If you can stomach the depreciation on the wrangler then go for it.

Although for a used $23k 328i, would it be under warranty?

For 23k I think i would rather get a new TDI Golf or something. Save some gas while ya at it.

I put about 10k into the wrangler too :::doh:::: but I cant stand it. Wranglers dont depreciate that much though. Lots of crazy jeepers out there. I could sell it private party for pretty close to what I put into it from what ive seen online.

Just think a 328 would be a fun safe DD. Not sure about the warranty.

As much as I like 328's, I think it's to similar and you'll want to be driving the M every time you get in the thing. I had a Honda for a bit, and the only thing that made it ok to drive was the insane mileage. I would calculate how much $ I was saving. Based on that, if you're really looking to save money, get a Prius. It will balance out your karma for consuming so much of our precious natural resources in the M3!

How about an X3? BMW handling, but enough room for the dog and the stuff. I had an '07 but turned it in when the lease was up. What a mistake!

depends on your climate- if you need a truck or suv for winters then not a bad idea to trade up for something that route but if youre just going to get another bimmer im with a few others who posted - save money and drive the m3 as your daily.

my daily: 2009 e90 m3
my weekend and cruiser: 1966 big block corvette

Do what I did, get a 135i and use that as your DD.

But, I do have to tell you, that I LOVE (oops I said the “L” word) my M3 so much that I am thinking of trading in my 135i for an M3 Sedan, and using that as my DD. Yes, I would have two (2) M3s. Hey, at least one would have four (4) doors!

For those who say just daily drive the M3, this really depends on conditions. Until recently, I drove 104 miles round trip on my commute. Add normal driving in, and could have theoretically used up my M3 warranty in 1.5 years. Factoring mileage, it would have been extra stupid for me to drive the M3. A second, more economical car can be a really good financial decision.

+1...isn't that the point of an m3? It's the best all around car in its price range. It's not like you're driving a cramped 2 seater sports car

Why did you buy the Wrangler and put 10K in it if you hate it so much Anyhow just pick up a used Subaru or V70R something different from your m3.

Replace the wrangler with an X5M or X6M.

Lower end 3 series cars indeed are a joke. Can't believe people pay $35k+ for a 328i when it drives like a corolla.

Exaggeration anyone? I think the 328 is a pretty nice car... Way better than the entry level C-class or A4. Go drive even a high end Honda or Toyota and say that... no comparison.
