Akrapovic Slip-On NORMAL DRIVING conditions and Observations
Since there aren't any really good videos of the Slip On online, i thought i would post one to share..but i dont think its that good either lol...excuse the poor quality and poor editing. it was my first time using movie maker. Also we just drove into a random quiet neighborhood to shoot this early in the morning so we were in a rush to get the footage and leave before anyone woke up. I think most people will be more interested in the sound anyway so just turn it up.
IMO, revving or cold start vids u see online arent representative because even the stock exhaust is loud when u rev it in the garage...So, i tried to take shots of what, I, as a consumer would want to see before considering this add on. There are NO WOT runs because thats just not realistic. You dont get a slip on for the track...thats what the full system is for and you arent going to go blazing down public roads at WOT either so these are just basically runs of what the exhaust sounds like under NORMAL driving conditions. Anyhow, on with the show. 1st Run - Revs up to 3k RPM 2nd Run - Revs up to 4k RPM 3rd Run - Fly By (turn up vol loud to really hear it, ROAD NOISE from tyres) 4th Run - Revs up to 5-6k RPM 5th - just revving from standstill Just a few observations.... -the exhaust DID get louder after 1k miles -cabin sound IS completely different than what you hear outside or in the video. sounded like a different car when ur stading outside of it. to get the true sound from inside the cabin, u have to be sitting in the back seat with ur ear facing the seat bottom. -if u turn on the music halfway loud, u wont be able to hear the cabin sound at all with windows up or down. -peak exhaust note is around 3-4k rpm. 5k plus is all engine noise. 8k rpm cant hear exhaust at all -If you are driving behind the car, u will only know it has an exhaust IF you are looking for it...Honda Civics and Acura integras have exhausts louder than this. -It will, however, set off certain car alarms in parking garages around 1-2k rpm. my Fav shot: p.s. trying to work with Amer here to coordinate a time/place for a side by side comparo with his BMW performance..should be coming soon |

Yea, I think you're right. I noticed my Akra definitely was louder after about 3k then when I first got it. Certainly a nice exhaust and a good choice for a slip-on. Definitely fits the character of the car. I'd say the Akra is a little louder from inside the car than the Dinan. Akra-slip on is a very smooth sound.

Nice job on capturing how it sounds. Approximately how many miles do you have on the exhaust when you took the video?
Mine don't sound as good as yours (yet). Car still being broken in and my exhaust so far has about 200 miles into it. PS: Your observations are pretty spot on. I find the deepest sound around 2500-3500 RPM but I'm sure that will change once I get more miles into it.

closer to 6K.
Nice video OP. Actually gives me a good idea of what the slip on should sound like. It sounds really bassy

1000 miles. thats when it got noticeably louder...i think a couple good rips during the break-in helps too....no real evidence of this but just what i think...maybe its just in my head..even my oem got louder after about 2k miles.

Nicely done, Rich. When are you back from YL? We still need to get together and do the video comparison of our exhausts.

Great video, well done!
Also why is it there is always someone whining about driving too fast (and it wasn't even the case here...)
