R.I.P to my first lip
Let me start off by saying, I live in Colorado. These streets are horrible for lowered cars.
I had finally got around to installing my lip after it sat for a few days. I made a skid plate for it and everything, just to protect it as much as I could. Once everything was installed, I took it out for a little drive. Literally 12mins in, I approached a dip. I slowed down and went in a angle. The second I attempt to go over it, I hear my skid plate scrap very loudly. Then it got even louder. So I pulled over on a neighborhood street and it was just scrapping. I get out of the car and see that not only my lip is TOTALLY FUCKED but my skid plate was dragging on the floor. Thankfully I wasn't far from my house. Man that was the loudest drive home I've ever taken. Be careful out there my fellow members !! This really hurts |

Hit up AJM, smashing up lips is the sole reason why I wont spend a grand for a lip. Fitment is 7/10, but for 250 its the best route.

Looks like a challenge style lip, I feel your pain. I've been through 3 of them lol. I actually keep a spare in my garage. My old apartment had massive speed bumps in the parking garage and it destroyed 2 of them. My solution was Airlift

Mind posting a pic of your M3 on air suspension? I'd love to see that! Living out here in Colorado that might be my best option. The lip was literally 3 inches off the ground |

I cracked my challenge lip and then repaired it only to crack it again. Love the look of the lip but it sits pretty low.

The lip does sit pretty low. Does anyone know if the gt4 lips sit as low as the rkp/challenge lip? Does it sit pretty level with the felt boxes under the bumper?

FRP lip + wrapped in CF vinyl is the way to go.
Although I have had to have my lip re-wrapped a few times in the past four years..

I think the "splitters" that go on each side on the front end might be a better option. They also look better on these cars imo. The full blown lips like yours are just asking for trouble lol.

That's what I've been thinking about, just getting some splitters. But I think being static and it being pretty low, I'm asking for trouble w/ or w/o the lip lol. That's why I'm gonna switch over to an proper airlift suspension. Colorado has some pretty bad dips, driveways, bumps etc.

Lost four lips on this car. Quickest one was 8 hours after having it installed. Took car out of storage and went to first car meet. After the meet, left half the lip on the highway coming home. Bought a 5th but never got around to installing it this season. Will have it in for next year for sure.
Stopped buying nice lips after the second one got destroyed. I'll go plastic and wrap it for half the price. Doesn't sting as bad when i do here a crunch after bottoming out lol |

The lip sits 3 inches off the ground so there isn't a whole lot of clearance! Time to move to bags! |

You guys should check out front-end lift kits. Aircups or hydro, there’s some decent stuff out there now for a reasonable price. Might pay for itself after awhile.

Now I'm looking for my 3rd splitter. I've cracked a Mode Carbon and JL Motoring one so far... I will also tighten up my suspension to help this. I've found that the Ohlins set on a soft setting allows way too much travel and is detrimental to splitter life. |

I was going to get bags for the car, but I wanted to still have a true coilover so that was the reason I'm deciding to go that route |
