Hey Kimo,

Hope this is not too late. We were either on the road or with people the whole week and just got back last night.

The whole experience was very very good. The hotel and the food was good, and the experience on the skid pad was fantastic. The amount of time you get to spend on the skid pad itself depends on the # of people who are there to pick up a car and the # of people who want to drive - both the new owner and their partner get to drive. In our case we had 5 owners and a total of 8 who wanted to drive which reduced the amount of time each person got to spend but it was still amazing. I realized that Monday (and probably Friday)is probably their busiest day, a thing to keep in mind if and when I return.

You get a car similar to what you've ordered, (so in your case you'll get a 330) and it's brand new and then they tell you to drive as hard as you can!! My heart started punding the moment the first drive did a huge 360 and I went on to do a couple of those myself.

I wish I had more track time and I didnt particularly like our instructor, Jim, but it was a blast and it was free!

Next I took delivery of my car (the sequence depends on how they split it up amongst all the new owners) in which my Delivery Specialist Jonathan Stribble did a great job of making sure that I knew everything about my car. We then went to the factory and museum. We didnt stay for the factory tour because of time constraints though we would have loved to.

We didnt get a chance to try out any of the lovely driving routes (Blue Ridge Parkway) that people on this forum suggested but the March issue of BMW Magazine that I picked up at the PC and read just yesterday suggested taking I85 to I 126 towards Asheville NC and then taking the first exit in NC to Tryon and then a right on Hwy 176 towards Saluda. You can find more suggestions on theultimatedrives.com a bmw website.

Have fun and let us know how it went!

Break down of my order
1. Order made 7/28/05
2. Began Production 8/05/05
3. Completed Production 8/10/05
4. Being tranported to Port of Exit 8/11/05
5. At Port awaiting shipping Vessel 8/12/05
6. In Transit 8/15/05
7. Arrived at port awaiting Shipping Vessel 8/26/05
8. Still waiting for shipping Vessel as of today 8/30/05 in NY on OC and 800#
9. Dealer called today 8/30/05 to say the Vehicle is in there inventory and I could have it Friday if I wanted cause they were booked solid for deliveries on Thursday. Go figure I guess my vehicle already got picked up and BMW is just slow!!!
10. Will be picking up my vehicle on September 7th due to the holiday weekend and I will not be able to get it from Friday to Tuesday.

36 days from order to first possible delivery date. Not bad at all. Im in Brooklyn, NY right outside NYC ordered from my local Life Quality BMW dealer.

Tracking In Oz

Finally got details for my order - I have a production number and my car is being built in week 38 (in about 2 and half weeks time).

I am in Australia, so I am guessing I cannot access BMW Owners Circle (I tried with no luck - my Prod Number is not in their DB).

I am hence wondering whether there is any other BMW global resource or database I can use to track my order ?

Question Anyone received his order in Norther virginia - Washington DC area?

Did anyone receive his order in the Washington DC / Northern Virginia area? If so, how long did it take for your car to arrive since docking at the NY harbor? My car is scheduled to dock in NY on Sep 8th...I am hoping for the 12th as a delivery date at the dealer?!

VIN Invaild Codes

I have a couple of questions regarding the VIN. I have "5" under Restraint System Identifier and "P" under Plant Code. According to the VIN chart, they are invalid codes. I’m kind of worry now. Can someone please explain to me?

Thanks in advance.

Puck724,

Thanks man! I haven't been able to find any more information on the Ace since it left Bremerhaven. Looks like we'll be in the driver's seat before long. Woohoo!

Well, my BMW dealer called today and gave me both my production number and VIN number. It is supposed to enter production next week. Problem is, when I go to the Owners Circle and enter either production number or VIN, it says no match in database. Shouldn't it show up by now?

I spoke with my salesman today and I told him the Marina Ace had arrived at Port Hueneme in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 7th and was already in the process of unloading at the VPC. He laughed and said, "Dude! You know more about where the ship is than I do!"

Anyway, he confirmed for himself that what I had told him was true and followed up by informing me I'd definitely be driving my 330i by early next week!

I'm stoked! Woohoo!

I'm in the pee-pee dance stage now!!

Check out this link. I saved it from some older thread. It pretty much gives you the low down.

Question ED versus US delivery?

What are the average wait times for a ED compared to US delivered order?
From reading several of the posts, it appears that an order to the US takes around 7-8 weeks. How much longer would the ED take?

West Coast about 8 weeks after your drop if off in Europe. However, US delivery pre-sold cars will get priority over an ED car when it gets processed at a VPC.
