That's your car having an outburst of anger and losing its patience with you saying "get this heavy piece of sh*t off me.....where is that light carbon fiber topping my brothers got"...........j/k.

Seriously, glad you didn't get hurt, good luck on the service claim with BMW..

Cheers,

Glad you're OK. Pretty scary when it happens, eh! I also got the same (good) service from BMW NA who rang to check on me / the status of the M3.

Not just BMW's apparently...

The moonroof in my boss' LS460 fractured this am on the way in to work. Not exactly cold in Houston this AM, and he says that the glass is bowed out in an overpressure type pattern. Curious to see what Lexus has to say about it.

If I were your boss, I'd just be thankful that the Lexus stops when he wants it to.

No huge fan of the sunroof either, but yeah, M3 are really track focused machines. Let's get rid of the a/c, radio, navigation, and other useless crap that proper race car shouldn't have on board

It's pretty fun, yet comfortable dd. Isn't it why most of us got the car? C'mon, you're talking like we drive GT3 RS or something

My sentiments exactly. I love the performance but as it's a car I also *use* to move around town etc and live in a warm climate I find the moonroof of great utility.

Then, y'day I went on a local BMW Chapter club drive and it was bucketing down, and was again reminded why I like having the 'roof: in this very overcast day it was more pleasant to have some extra light in the cabin.

BTW, totally disagree w/ the Ed. at Edmunds:

http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtest...i-buy-one.html

I find my M3's suspension more comfortable than the 335d's AND it's reasonably quiet on the hwy (unless you mod it) and/or unless you don't rev it high. It's comfy as a GT and also can provide entertainment on a track.

Personally, I like the fact that the M3 comes with A/C, EDC, a nice nav system, and all that stuff that makes it civil. However, I am glad I do not have a moonroof. In fact, it is a feature I would have paid not to have. It breaks up the lines of the car on any color except black, adds 40 pounds of weight in the worst possible place, and takes away valuable headroom.

And I suppose it can also explode.

But if you like yours, more power to you. That's why you can order one. And perhaps also why you can't get a 335i without one in the United States.

Exactly my point. No reason to put people down because they got moonroof. For 99.9% extra weight added is not an issue and most people wouldn't tell the difference.

Like I said, not a big fan of the moonroof (mostly because that's another gizmo that can break or explode )but I see why some people want one

I saw a thread about this. Either on E46fanatics.com or E90post. Everyone thought the guy was full of sh1t.

I guess this is not a totally uncommon occurence. Luckily you didn't have any small kids or infants in the car.
